Result Tampering Lands Candidates, Parent in Trouble as JAMB Takes Action
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed the arrest of two Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates and a parent over alleged manipulation of examination result notifications.
According to JAMB, the susp£cts were accused of altering or falsifying official result SMS messages in an attempt to misrepresent candidates’ scores. The board explained that the act was detected during routine checks aimed at safeguarding the integrity of its result release system.
JAMB noted that the individuals involved attempted to use tampered result notifications to mislead others, an action it described as fr@udulent and capable of undermining public trust in the examination process.
The board further stated that the susp£cts are currently under investigation and may face prosecution if found culpable. It reiterated that any attempt to alter or forge UTME results whether digitally or otherwise constitutes a serious offence under its regulations.
JAMB also warned candidates and parents to avoid involvement in any form of result manipulation, stressing that all official results should be verified only through its approved channels.
