Refurbished Nnobi Community Library Recommissioned
The Nnobi Community Library, attracted by a former House of Representatives member, Honourable Charles Odedo, as a constituency project and commissioned in 2012 but which went into disuse over the years, has been refurbished through the efforts of the Nnobi community with the support of the Lady Victoria Obianyo Foundation to restore it to active use.
In his address, the President General of Nnobi Community, Mr. Dom Okpala, said the library had been dormant over the years and that his leadership, together with partners, was motivated to revive it for public use with the support of the Lady Victoria Obianyo Foundation, while appealing to the state government to adopt the library and provide staff for its maximum use by Nnobi and neighbouring communities.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, appreciated the Nnobi community leadership and the foundation for their noble initiative in restoring the library, emphasizing that education and hard work remain the surest path to sustainable growth for youths, while promising to look into their demands concerning the library and highlighting Governor Soludo’s achievements for Nnobi and the entire state.
In her speech, Barrister Chinaza Obianyo of the Lady Victoria Obianyo Foundation said that supporting the refurbishment of the library was a way of giving back to society to promote growth and development, especially for women and children, and urged the government to assist in ensuring the full utilization of the library.
The event climaxed with the official commissioning and inspection of the library.
