CJ commend Anambra judiciary for Ranking 2nd in Speedy Justice delivery

The Anambra Chief Judge(ACJ), Hon. Justice Onochie Anyachebelu has commended legal practioners in the state for their efforts in making Anambra judiciary rank second out of the 36 States of the federation in Speedy Justice delivery.
Justice Anyachebelu gave the commendation at Paradise Regained Hotel, Ogidi while declaring the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Idemili Fountain Branch Law Dinner open tasking the judiciary to clinch the first position subsequently.
“Anambra judiciary is doing very well. It has grown to become one of the best in Nigeria. Recent report shows that Anambra judiciary ranks second among all the states in the federation in quick Justice delivery,” said Anyachebelu.
Speaking on behalf of the Idemili Fountain Branch, Chairman, Dr Boniface Ewulum, the Immediate past Chairman, Pierre Oseme Esq stressed on the need to consolidate the gains of the Bar and Bench of 2021.
” The Bar and Bench have seen themselves as one fundamental element which must forge a common front to protect and maintain the rule of law in Nigeria.
“Judiciary is the last hope if the common man.In 2021 especially
in Anambra, the Bar and Bench formed a symbolic Association which results to Speedy dispensation of Justice.
“Come 2022, Anambra will be ranked first position in Justice delivery.You will see Justice littered at the streets of Anambra because the Bar and the Bench have resolved to confront every form of Injustice.
“Earlier this month the ACJ in collaboration with the Bar got a lot of inmates set free. You can see what is happening at the tribunal. Anambra as the Light of the nation shall become ‘numero uno,” said Oseme.
According to another former branch Chairman, Chike Nonyelu Esq., Judges are accessed nationally by the Judicial Service Commission. Each judge is awarded percentage based on productivity. That is how Anambra came second .
“Lagos overtook Anambra because we grapple with a lot of land matters which takes longer time than other cases”, said Nonyelu.
Another former Chairman, Chief Maurice Efobi said:” It is not a surprise to us. We know the quality of judges and lawyers we have in Anambra.Lagos came first because it is more urbanized and lawyers from all over the country practice there”.
Idemili Fountain Branch Emeritus, Barr. Ben Okoko described Anambra State as very litigious saying that three lawyers were appointed Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN this year though from NBA Onitsha branch.
The Idemili Fountain Branch continued with their law dinner saying that it was a long standing tradition that a practicing lawyer should eat law dinner at Least once a year to unwind.
‘If you do not take a break you will break down. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. The law dinner is also bridge between the Bar and the Bench. It is also a forum for continued education and intellectual discussion,” they said.
