Orutugu, 12 Others Promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG.
He is among 13 Commissioners of Police elevated by the Police Service Commission, PSC, in its latest promotion exercise.
The PSC announced the promotions in a statement on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, signed by its Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu. The decision was taken at a plenary meeting in Abuja.
According to the PSC, the officers were promoted after passing written examinations and oral interviews conducted for senior officers.
CP Orutugu, who currently heads the Anambra State Police Command, was promoted alongside 12 others.
They include: CP Itam Nnaghe Obono of the Counter Terrorism Unit, and former CP Anambra; CP Bassey Samuel Ewah, Plateau State; CP Osagie John Agans-Irabor, FCID Lagos; CP Monday Agbonika, Edo; CP Iyamah Daniel Adebor, Bayelsa; CP Isa Danladi Nda, Abia; CP Akaninyene Ezima, Director, NPF National Cybercrime Centre; CP Afegbua B. Rashid, Cross River; CP Edozie Hycenth Azuka, AML/CFT Unit, FCID; CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Jigawa; CP Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent, Benue; and CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, CP Welfare.
