AGNEC 2025 OFFICIAL REPORT ON THE DECEMBER 6TH, 2025 AGN NATIONAL ELECTION HELD IN BENIN, EDO STATE.
AGN AGNEC 2025, the official body that conducted the just concluded AGN National election in Benin City hereby presents the official proceedings of the exercise.
As the official electoral umpire of the AGN 2025, National election, we midwived an election widely accepted as most free, fair and credible election ever organized in AGN.
A total number of 235 persons across the member states were accredited.
The voting started around 4 pm in the evening.
A total of 19 persons vied in various offices.
The voting was done smoothly and there were no disturbances or squabbles as both the Contestants and the electorate comported and conducted themselves creditably well and peaceful.
Before the voting was openly done , the Agents of all the Contestants supervised and certified the electoral materials as being perfect and intact.
With their consent and approval, the voting started. The voting was done state by state as delegates took their turns to cast their votes in a single file, each exiting the hall immediately after voting, to avoid rowdiness.
When all states from Adamawa to Zamfara had voted, sorting and counting of votes commenced.
The Agents of the candidates were on ground for the exercise, as each agent monitored, took part in sorting and counting of his/her candidate’s votes.
Below is the collated result for the election.
1 . Chief Whip – only one candidate Terela Afore. Out of 224 total votes cast he polled 199 votes, while 25 votes were declared void. Terela stands elected.
2 . DGS – Two candidates contested for DGS, namely Emeka Duru and David Akumah.
Emeka Duru scored 69 votes
David Akumah got 152 votes
While 4 votes were void. David Akumah stands elected.
3 . Assistant Secretary – two candidates contested, namely Patrick Igwe and Johnson Erakpotobor.
Patrick Igwe polled 51 votes
Johnson Erakpotobor got 170 votes to emerge elected. 5 votes were void.
4 National Vice President South- East; Anigbo Clement was the sole candidate and was returned unopposed having scored over 2/3 majority of the votes cast. He polled 198 out of 212 votes while 14 void votes were recorded.
5 . National Director of Policy and Implementation. Don Pedro Aganbi was the only candidate and was returned unopposed having scored over 2/3 of the total votes cast. He got 217 over 229 and 12 votes were void.
6 . National Financial Secretary. Grace Amah was the only candidate that contested. He got 210 votes out of 221 total votes. 11 votes were recorded void.
She stands elected.
7 . National Vice President South – South had two candidates, namely Mokilese Osain and Bartholomew Ogugua.
Mokilese Osain with 102 votes, succumbed to Bartholomew Ogugua’s superior votes of 119. Five votes were void.
Bartholomew Ogugua stands elected.
8 . National Vice President North-East had two Contestants namely Michael Oshomah and Yakubu Sule.
Yakubu Sule won with 124 votes against Michael Oshomah’s 97 votes, while 8 votes were declared void.
9 . National Vice President North-West had only Michael Yusuf contesting. He scored 195 out of 222 votes to be elected, while 27 votes were recorded void.
10 . National Vice President South – West had only Dayo Amusa contesting.
He had 217 out of 230 votes to be returned unopposed. 13 votes were recorded void.
11 . National Secretary – two candidates in the persons of Ifeoma Okeke-Ozzude and John Ukpe contested.
Ifeoma Okeke-Ozzude outscored John Ukpe with 149 against 80 votes to emerge elected. 4 votes were declared void.
12 . National President – In this clash of two giants, Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu edged out his rival Rita Daniel with a slim margin.
Abubakar polled 116 votes while Rita polled 113 votes.
3 votes were void.
With the above election results breakdown, AGN now has a new National Executive Council Members that would lead the guild for the next three years, in the persons of;
1 . President – Alhaji Yakubu Sanusi Abubakar.
2 . National Vice President South- East: Anigbo Clement
3 . National Vice President North-West: Michael Yusuf.
4 . National Vice President South- West: Dayo Amusa.
5 . National Vice President
South – South: Bartholomew Ogugua.
6 . National Vice President North-East: Yakubu Sule.
7 . National Secretary – Ifeoma Okeke-Ozzude.
8 . National Director of Policy and Implementation: Don Pedro Aganbi.
9 . National Financial Secretary – Grace Amah.
10 . National Assistant Secretary – Johnson Erakpotobor.
11 . National Director of Guild Services (DGS) David Akumah.
12 . Chief Whip – Terela Afore.
We express our profound gratitude to the B.O.T and the National Executive Council for trusting us with the electoral exercise of the guild, and hope that we satisfied their wish.
We also commend both electorates and the Candidates for their comportment before, during and after the elections; their cooperation made the election process smooth and peaceful.
Finally we thank God who helped us deliver the duty without controversy.
