Why Did Micheal Jackson Get So Famous And His Siblings Didn’t?

To be honest, the only simple answer that this question will get from everyone who decides to read this will be “they didn’t have the talent” and this answer will be spot on. When Michael was just a young lad in school, his parents heard his rendition of the famous song, “Climb every mountain” and immediately, they knew he was made for music and should replace one of his brother as the lead singer in the Jackson five group.

Though his brother Jermaine had the spot of lead singer and honestly he had a good voice also but when Michael stepped in, it was clear that his voice was extraordinary. The interesting thing about Michael was also his ability to move around as a child, unlike Jermaine who was simply stuck behind a guitar.

Michael danced and moved like the legends who he got to watch on TV and people saw that he was a very good dancer.

Michael’s brother, Tito was really good at handling the guitar, he was world class good at the time the Jackson 5 hit superstar status but he wasn’t much good at singing just as his brothers Jackie and Marlon were good singers and dancers but could only serve as back-up to Michael’s extraordinary voice and performance. Though randy also came on board as a replacement for Jermaine but even he couldn’t do it like Michael and he eventually got stuck behind the keyboard.l

Although I cannot say that it was easy for Michael Jackson as a child, having to carry the weight of the responsibility as a lead singer in a group made up of his siblings and managed by his father. I mean, Michael was so young at that time (age 11) that I am sure he would have received a lot of beatings and scolding when he gets it wrong

Lifting the weight of carrying his brother on his back took a lot from Michael including losing money, and contracts after his release of Thriller just so he could stay in the Jackson 5 group. However, Michael eventually saw that it was time that he went his way and let his talent speak for him, so he took a bold step and said you know what, “I quit”. Without prior conversation, Michael made this announcement at their last victory tour concert in Los Angeles. As you would expect, his brothers didn’t take it kindly, they were devasted but Michael knew he was meant for greater things. Odogwublog.com

Eventually, Michael’s brothers except Jermaine learnt to love his new path and appreciated him. Jermaine in the other hand, did everything to spite him. He even released a song at that time that he titled “word to The Bad” referencing Michael Jackson who released a hit single called “Bad”. Jermaine also wrote a tell all book that he wanted to release during Michael’s 2005 trial out of spite but was held back for some reason. Though he eventually released it after Michael’s death.

Though one cannot totally speak little of the Jackson 5 as a group, because even without Michael, the band represented a lot of things. They were able to give hope to millions of children of color. They were role models to these kids, giving them hope that no matter what, their dreams are achievable. I mean these guys came into the spot light at a time when blacks weren’t given much attention or even listened to as much as they are now. So individually, they all did great.

However, Michael Jackson stood out amongst them, he was super dedicated and honestly, he was a genius. He was exposed to the same circumstances that his brothers were exposed to, the intense training, the hardwork, the sleepless night and even being younger than them then, he still found a way to beat them. There will only ever be one Michael Jackson!
