Tragic Electrocution of Unizik Student Leaves People In Shock

A 200 level Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) student of Educational Foundation (political science option), Awka campus had been called to glory on the early hours of Saturday December 2025, the incident took place at his residence, fidelis lodge, ifite awka which shook the entire school, his relations and close friends.

The verified fact is he died by instant electrocution, but a rumor stated “he was ironing the cloth the first time and was electrocuted slightly, requested for bathroom slippers and continued ironing, in the process he kicked the bucket.

It waa said that “there had not been power supply in ifite, when the power was supplied the first time the pressing iron electrocuted him slightly, upon the second power supply the incident occurred upon noticing these his neighours called for help.

Despite these rumours surrounding his demise, Unizik as a whole has lost so many vibrant students this year as a result of unforeseen circumstances.

The Student Union Government (SUG) in response to this incident realsed a statement on Saturday “announcing the tragic passing of the student whose name is Nnadi Godwin Ebube, a 200 level student of Educational foundation (political science option) and also the assistant course representative of his set.

According to the SUG ” he was electrocuted in the early hours of 6th, December 2025, while using a pressing iron, pushed to the hospital where the SUG president, vice president and Director of Social were present when the doctor confirmed his demise” that is to say the student was brought dead on arrival.

Furthermore, they, the SUG has been in touch with the department and relevant authorities to ensure proper support and urged students to remain calm and exercise caution when using electrical appliances especially off campus.

With a mourning heart, the SUG extended their heart felt condolences to his family, friends and who mourn.

The faculty in response to the loss of one of their own has decided to hold a candle light procession on the 11th of December 2025 around 5pm.

Comr Chukwunonso Onuchukwu the General course rep of 300lvl and chief Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) of the department, in an interview described the incident as a sober reflection that is very unfortunate” He was as one full of life, visionary which is directly reflected by his academic performance and social lifestyle. Who are we to question life and the uneven fate it chose to place on Fidwin, but can we question our heart to be more symphatetic towards the unfortunate situation and overall conscience of the one fact that it could be any of us”

He further expressed his dissatisfaction to the actions and reactions of students towards the incident “I do not like the fact that many of our students do not have any common knowledge on how to manage emergencies like these, yet they are all over their social status posting and forwarding to many groups with no regard for the deceased body either to score frivolous impressions or to become the first broadcaster
While we could do little or nothing right now to Fidwin.
I urge all students of Educational Foundations to respect the diseased boby and suspend further social media tantrums rather cease this opportunity to reflect on the death of Fidwin as well as calling for an awareness campaign that will enlightened students on how to manage various emergencies through the students institutions available. We pray and hope such tragic news shall not befall us any further”

Veronica Nomeh a 100 level student of Educational foundation (political science option) in an interview described the death of her senior course mate as a painful and sad one “it is so painful that he died, when i heard about it, i could bring myself to sleep that night, and it was this same boy that always comes to lecture us on likes and dislikes of each lecturer”

Eberechukwu Ojukwu another 100level student of Educational foundation (political science option) in an interview described his death as a dreadful one, she expressed her mystery of minor things leading to a major actions, ” who would believe that a pressing iron would cause the death of such a vibrant student who was very jovial and cheerful, i pray his soul rests in perfect peace and God almighty give all of us the heart to bear the loss “
