The Secret Things of Life By Livy-Elcon Emereonye

With all the secrets in life including the ones we know and those we are ignorant of, at the appointed time we leave the stage and everything associated with it. To everyone born of a woman, there is no permanent position because change is constant. Take a look at the mirror and see how fast you have changed.

But in the real sense of it, is there any secret in life even in secret cults and occult societies? Are there hidden treasures that cannot be explored, revealed and exploited by a curious mind – the earnest seeker?

In the romance of random ponderability, the questions of why anyone should live in fear, denying himself the inherent benefits of freedom while another person lives in a world of fantasy, scheming to have it all and call the shut even at expense of others occur repeatedly. Seeking for answer(s), I discover that life is but a voyage of emptiness – a pure pursuit of vanity! Whatever the leaning and inclination, we have the same ultimate fate – we live to die, and every second takes us closer to the grave.

In my journey of life, I have come to realize the wasteness of pursuit and the nothingness of living. Whatever the curiosity and probable glamour; however the journey and possible experience, we alight at the bus stop. Whether we tread with caution or not, everyone has a destination. We answer the ultimate call – and at the appointed time.

If death is the ultimate end and the fate of everyone, why should anyone live in fear and deny himself of the benefits of life, living? On the other hand, why should a mortal man, yes a living dead constitute himself into principality with all manners of fetishism and voodooism, deceiving the simpletons and those he has control over. Surrounded by minions, such character assumes a “super human stature,” playing himself and his sheepish followers who see him as “the evil genius of a growing cult” but with powers that are many times of no effect and most times nonexistent.

But is there anything like secret cult or secret society? If the answer is yes, are there secret(s) in them? Is anything truly hidden under heaven or away from man? How secret are the so called secret things of life?

“A secret society is a club or an organization whose activities, events, inner functioning, or membership are concealed from non-members. The society may or may not attempt to conceal its existence. The term usually excludes covert groups, such as intelligence agencies or guerrilla warfare insurgencies that hide their activities and memberships but maintain a public presence.

From the above, the secret of any cult is for the uninitiated. Anyone who got involved would know more for conception is function of intimacy. Secret societies have intrigued humanity for ages but simply on superstition and interplay of the minds. There is no secret for the curious earnest seekers. A close-up contact would reveal to one’s greatest surprise the fraud in such society with the “Capone” being a mere opportunist.

“To some, the name ‘secret society’ conjures up an image of a shadowy and elite cabal meeting behind smoke-filled rooms, discussing tactics of world domination and manipulation straight out of the most far-fetched espionage thriller.” “By their very name, secret societies inspire curiosity, fascination and distrust” but a close observation would reveal that apart from being a clandestine organisation, there is actually no secret(s) in the secret society instead it incubates a lunatic asylum for those who never believed in their ability but look up to “someone else” for grooming, guidance and direction.

From every indication, it is complex – complex of either left or right – that makes people to join cult. In trying to belong, they share their loyalty and murder their conscience. And with dead conscience, they become beasts, soiling holy things and epitomizing evil just to transfer aggression of self-inflicted pains to suspected competitors and imaginary enemies. But with all the cosmetic outlook, they lack peace of mind even inside their chosen cages. Cult equivocates but it also puts one in bondage! Those who sold their conscience for pittance would never allow any outsider to have freedom. Beside fraternal influence, they work to subjugate people and make things difficult. By whatever means, they create chaos just to distort the system but being integral part of humanity, they suffer from such chaos and the problems thereof.

The promise of having paradise on earth may be one of the recruitment adverts – and those who want prosperity without hard work or even go to heaven without death would jump at such without hesitation. But whatever reason(s) anyone can give for joining a secret society, may not at the end justify the smear of conscience, the restriction of freedom and the bondage inherent in it. So does it worth it, knowing the limits and limitations of knowledge?

It makes no sense going the whole hug to seek and reveal the “secret” that is actually no secret with little or no value to anyone except those that have the complex intention to manipulate others. Therefore, live freely without having any enemy to fight and any friend to defend; see no one’s position or success as a source of worry to you as that cannot deprive you of who you are and who you will be; then work for a life not a living. Strive to make the world – your world – a better place for peaceful co-existence.
