Speaking at the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, said rising living costs and insecurity have placed significant pressure on workers and their families.

He described the current minimum wage as a starting point, noting that the government is working on broader wage reforms in collaboration with labour unions and state governments to ensure fair and sustainable earnings.
On employment, Dingyadi said new initiatives are being introduced in sectors such as agriculture, technology, and infrastructure to create jobs, particularly for youths.

He added that ongoing labour reforms including policy reviews and improved workplace safety measures are aimed at strengthening the sector and supporting long-term economic stability.
