St Theresa’s Parish Undergoes aggressive Prayer Session

As a way to contribute their quota in cushioning some of the vices bedevilling the nation, the Parish Priest, St Theresa’s Catholic Parish Nibo, Rev Fr Sylvester Dunu has engaged its parishioners on a one-day marathon prayer session.

The Prayer Session is a monthly ritual, which Fides gathered was referred to as Parish day of prayer, fasting and reparation. It holds every third Monday of the Month.

The prayer session is targeted at alleviating some of the societal vices facing Nigeria.

While delivering his homily from the book of Psalm 127, the Parish Priest, Rev Fr Dunu stated that if the Lord does not watch over the city, that in vain does the watchman labour hence he advised all the parishioners to trust God in salvaging the nation.

In Dunu’s voice ‘ what prompted this prayer session is because of the challenges we face in the society, ranging from insecurity, killings, hardship and what have you. There is no good news in Nigeria.

‘It is a pity that Nigeria as a nation, devoid of all-natural disasters that other nations are envious of, is facing human disaster. The

‘Security is not all about stopping people from carrying guns, it will only be checkmated when we have the understanding of Christ.We are praying for our leaders to imbibe the ideology of Love.

‘ if I am good, you are good and our neighbours are good, definitely everywhere will be good,’.

On his part, the Resident Priest in the Parish, Monsignor Sylvester Mgbemfulu, said that the Prayer Session is an additional way to bring the people together and teach them the love of Christ.

‘We believe this prayer will add to getting God’s mercy. Some have guns to do fighting, some have political powers to do all the scheming, what is within our reach is the Prayers we are committed to,’. Mgbemfulu emphasized

The Prayer comes in three segments, rosary procession, Homily and adoration.
