Methodist Bishop, Nwakanma presents Elder Oti as Awka Diocesan New Lay President

The Methodist Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Rt Rev.Dr Nwakanma Onyekachi Moses has presented Elder Oti Gaius Oti, otherwise known as Nwokeoma as the 2nd new lay president of the Methodist church, Nigeria (Diocese of Awka ) Anambra state.
Nwokeoma will pilot the affairs of the diocese as lay president for the next three years.
The event which took place at the Cathedral of Holy Trinity Amaenyi Awka attracted many dignitaries from all walks of life.
During presentation and thanksgiving, Bishop Nwakanma in his speech thanked both the outgone and the newly inaugurated leader for their acceptance to serve in various capacities in the diocese, describing their duties and responsibilities as call for service and God’s work.
Nwakanma congratulated Elder Oti on his new position and expressed hope that he will deliver on the mandate given to him.
According to him, “Elder Oti will never be stranded in this call for service. He will serve out his tenure successfully. He will surely conquer and the world shall celebrate him. The diocese of Awka will celebrate under your service”
Bishop Nwakamma also assured of the support of the church to enable him to succeed.
“Every thing that you will need to serve starting from good health and strength will be given on to you. When a hand of God comes upon a man, no man can stand against that man. As you have been elevated to this position, may the lord show you mercy, lead you, bless you with good health and strength in the name of God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
The Bishop, however committed Elder Gaius Oti and his wife, Chinelo Oti into God’s hands saying that God will not abandon them as he never abandoned those who worked in righteousness with him .
He handed over a brand new Bible and water dispenser to the new lay president and his wife, advising them not to allow the word of God depart from their mouth.
“Meditate over this word of God day and night for therein you will find success as a lay president” he said.
In other to refresh body and soul the women ministry equally gave hamper containing different kinds of fruit.
Responding, Elder Oti expressed happiness and appreciated the faithful for the show of love.
“I am very happy, humbled and pleased for what I am seeing .
“It is true that I didn’t see this big opportunity coming physically and spiritually and wasn’t prepared but any time any day I remember the number of votes the dioceses cast for me, I will be humbled.
“For showing this kind love and support for me and my family, I want to promise this diocese that I will never disappoint you.
“I am going to commit a greater percentage of my resources for the progress of this diocese any time any day without wasting time” he assured.
The management of Benjamin Uwajumogu College of Education, Imo state ,the Management of Imo state Polytechnic were all represented and testified that Elder Oti is a man you can trust with a bigger responsibility and expect a swift result.
Others presents includes Prof Tony Nnedum, Head procurementu unit Nnamdi Azikiwe Univeraity awka ,Arc Damian Oduche, Elder & Ezinne Sam Arum ,Uzochukwu Sam Chukwu Orji , Chief Darlington Ohia,, Dom Ekebuisi, Sir Peter , Rev. Lekwauwa among others graced the occasion.
