Soludo’s Wife Addresses NAWOJ, Seeks Partnership To Promote Healthy Living

Anambra First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, says journalists are important stakeholders in the propagation of healthy living education and decentralization.

The First Lady who stated this at the 2024 Triennial Delegates’ Conference of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), explained that the uniqueness of her non-governmental movement rubs off on the principle of basic awareness awareness which journalists are championing.

She said that female journalists could, because of the distinctive position they occupy in the prestigious profession, lead the much-needed revolution in health beginning with themselves.

Mrs Soludo also reminded the female journalists to be conscious of healthy living while discharging their professional duties, explaining that it is only a healthy body that can perform well.

She also disclosed the interest of her NGO to partner with NAWOJ in promoting healthy living awareness, reportage, and education in Anambra State and stressed that the strength of the crusade is hinged on collaborative opportunities.

While explaining the importance of each of the six pillars of the programme, Mrs. Soludo stated that Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative is not a “pet project” as is misconceived by some people, maintaining that the movement which she began years before her husband’s administration, will outlive the tenure of the current government.

Earlier in her remarks, the Anambra State President of NAWOJ, Comrade Franklin Onyekachi, disclosed that Mrs. Soludo’s healthy living crusade has had a massive impact on the health consciousness of every household in Anambra State and commended her for the deep passion that she has been driving the message with.

She stated that the association is ready to partner with the governor’s wife’s NGO, as well as use their professional privileges to spread awareness.

On his part, the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu noted that it would be the first time a governor’s wife would attend such an occasion and commended the governor’s wife for what she has achieved through her programmes in Anambra State.

Also, at the meeting were the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, that of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, their Education counterpart, Professor Ngozi-Chuma Udeh, among others.
