New Anambra CP, Nnanna Oji Ama, Pledges Intelligence-Led Policing

The new Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, has assured Ndi Anambra of his commitment to the protection of lives and property, upholding the rule of law, and strengthening strategic partnerships for a safer state.
Addressing journalists in Awka on Monday, 10th August 2026, during his maiden briefing, CP Ama said the Command under his leadership “shall remain steadfast in ensuring that every law-abiding citizen can live and conduct legitimate business in an atmosphere of peace and security.”
He commended the dedication of police officers, other security agencies, and the people of Anambra for their cooperation, while acknowledging the support of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, and Governor *Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
CP Ama expressed sadness over the tragic incident in Ideani Community where 4 children were found unconscious. He disclosed that 3 died while 1 is receiving intensive care. He announced that the Command will bear the full medical expenses of the surviving child and monitor his recovery.
“We shall conduct investigations into this incident with the highest level of professionalism and respect for the sanctity of human life,” he said.
The CP outlined his policing agenda to include: comprehensive review of strategies, strengthening intelligence gathering, technology-driven policing, proactive crime prevention, and reinforcing community policing with vigilante groups and stakeholders.
He also called on the media as “indispensable partners” to ensure factual, balanced and responsible reportage in the interest of public safety.
CP Ama urged residents to remain law-abiding and provide timely information to police, assuring that the Command will discharge its duties with integrity, fairness and respect for human rights.
