Rural road: Gudi-Moroa rural road to gulp N1.9bn

Motorists plying Gudi to Morao road will in no distance time have relief from the difficulties of transportation as the
Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has awarded the construction of the rural road to the tune of One Billion Nine Hundred Million,Naira (#1.9bn) as work is expected to commence next week.

Engineer Sule made this known during an empowerment programme, where he was the special guest of honour,organised by the Majalisan Maccido Foundation,in Nunku,Akwanga Local Government Area,on Saturday.

According to the Governor who also said in a bid to ease transportation problems in rural communities, the government is set to award the Nunku/Ajaga/Rinze road project, estimated at another N1bn, with officials already been dispatched to carry out feasibility studies.

Commenting further, Engineer Sule recounted the difficulties the people of the area encounter while traveling, stressing that his experience as a kid growing up in Gudi, was a motivating factor towards bringing succour to the people.

Speaking on the event, the Governor commended the organizers of the empowerment programmes, describing the gesture as selfless service to the community.

Engineer Sule announced a personal donation of N10m, to assist the Majalisan Maccido execute the electrification project earmarked in five communities of the area.

He personally donated 100 units of gas cylinders, as well as 100 bags of 50kg fertilizer, to women in Nunku.

The Governor equally warmed armed robbers operating along the Nunku/Andaha road to desist from their nefarious activities.

While calling on the youths in the area not to venture into criminalities, Engineer Sule assured that his administration is not resting on its oars, in a bid to create employment opportunities for the teeming youths across the state.

To this end, the Governor promised that 2000 youths from the area will be engaged in the NIRSAL/CBN agricultural programme that will commence on the banks of the Tide Dam.

Earlier, Chairman of the occasion, Senator Godiya Akwashishiki (APC, Nasarawa North), promised to carry out electrification project in five communities, as well as sink five solar boreholes and with the projects expected to cost N30m.

Also speaking, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Majalisan Maccido Foundation and former Deputy Governor, Hon. Damishi Barau Luka, heighted on the various interventions undertaken by the foundation, towards alleviating the suffering of the people.
