Ifedi Okwenna in Oyi; Promises To Address The Developmental Challenges of the Local Government

Leading Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming 2021 Anambra State Governorship election, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna has promised to address the many infrastructural challenges of Oyi Local government to enable her to continue to absolve the spillover from Onitsha city. Dr.Okwenna made this remarks while addressing Oyi Local Government Party chieftains and stakeholders during his recent official tour of the Local government.

The former Commissioner for Environment, Mineral Resources, Science and Technology said, as Governor, he will embark on massive urban planning and renewal programmes, building of organised housing estates and mini cities in Oyi and other Local Governments surrounding Onitsha, to provide modern and affordable accommodation to residents of greater Onitsha, thereby comprhensively reducing the rate of migration of Anambra residents to Asaba, in Delta State. Dr. Okwenna said he will improve the business environment and create more opportunities for Ndi Anambra especially around Oyi and other areas surrounding Onitsha and also ensure Ndi Oyi becomes part of his agricultural and industrial transformation programmes.

Dr. Okwenna asked Ndi Oyi and Anambra North generally, not to bemoan their fate for the 7years of their son in power which attracted only little in terms of development of their area. He promised them that as Governor, and with his focus on Agriculture, Industrialisation and urban development, he is bound to bring uncommon development to the zone. He asked them not to be deceived by any Aspirant, but to extract commitment from any of them on what his plans are for the Oyi people.

Welcoming the Ugwumba Osumenyi and his Ifedi Okwenna Victory Mandate Team to Oyi, PDP Chairman for the Local Government Engr.Emeka Aguluo, thanked Dr. Okwenna and his team on their tour of Oyi and commended him for his issue-based campaign, his deep understanding of Anambra State challenges and his track record as Commissioner which will definitely endear him with Anambra electorates, if he eventually picks the ticket of PDP. He asked him not to relent, but remain resolute on his campaign, till victory is achieved.

Elder statesman and strong PDP Stakeholder, Chief Frank Oramu, extols the strong character of Dr.Okwenna, his capacity and humility and calls on his people to give maximum support to Dr. Okwenna. He said Ugwumba’s plans and programmes for Ndi Anambra North, if implemented will wipe their tears and close the gap between them and the rest of the State. He enjoined Dr. Okwenna to further raise his game to make his victory better assured.
