With less than a year into active political activities from political players, out of the four years tenure for elected officers, the drums are beginning to roll, pointing towards 2023 hustling and bustling of this class of Nigerians.

As it stands, governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule’ of Nasarawa state ,may not be left out among those that are eyeing a second term of office ,as it is pressumed that the first two years of any democratically elected governor is devoted to administrative and infrastructural development, which the governor has demonstrated in his policy of Continuity and completion of uncompleted project his administration inherited.

Interestingly, some points worthy of being mentioned are the fact that before the election of Engineer Abdullahi Sule as the candidate of the APC, in 2018, some stakeholders in the state especially within the All Progressive Congress had vowed never to allowed the outgone governor ,now senator Al-Makura imposed Abdullahi Sule’ against their wished.

However, the governorship primary followed a democratic procedure, which produced Engineer Abdullahi Alhaji Sule’ beating ,Honourable Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and the then deputy governor, Honourable Silas Agara with a line slade margin of over a Thousand and Nine Hundred votes.

Consequently, the then governor, senator Dr Umaru Tanko Al-Makura,was left all alone to began the process of ensuring that the party and it’s candidate, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, now governor of the state, succeed in the general election against the opposition political parties, whose candidates are prominent politicians of the state, from both the People Democratic party (PDP) and All Progressive Grant Allaince (APGA).

Al-Makura envisaged that the A.A Sule’ chances of winning the election without the support of Ten aspirants from the APC who had lost out in the primary, through the party state working committee (SWC) root for reconciling them, that resulted in appointing some as principal key players on the campaign train of Engineer Sule’.

Ahmed Wadada, was appointed chairman of the campaign organization,he was deputized by Chief Philip Dada, while Architect Shehu Tukur,Honourable Silas Agara, were members of the team,as senator John Danboyi, the DG of the A.A Sule’ for governor 2019, manned the administration of the campaign organisation.

While this lasted, the former governor ,senator Abdullahi Adamu was yet to reneged on his position, which was against the incumbent governor’s ambition to become the successor of Umaru Tanko Al-Makura,as his preferred candidate then, Architect Ibrahim Ja,afaru ,a former house of representatives member was thwarted.

On his part,Governor Abdullahi Sule’ ,the then APC candidate ,continued with his campaign by wooing electorates across the 13 local government areas of the state.

In 2019 ,the election year proper, APC participated and won the election, that produced Engineer Sule’ as the Fourth democratically elected governor of Nasarawa state.

Governor , Engineer Sule’ took over the mantle of leadership and has demonstrated that the unity, peace and security of the people and their property is all that good governance consisted.

It will be good to mentioned too that since governor,Sule’,became the helms man of the state, residents of the state have testified that unlike the past, the administration is characterized with respect for harmonious exsistance deserving of continuing beyond 2023.

It is at this point and time that those who had kicked against the candidature of Engineer Sule’ are now returning in their numbers to identify with his administration, prominently among the returnees is the senator Abdullahi Adamu and his recent statement, that has sounded of him as chewing back his words.

This political calculous from senator Adamu,in the view of other stakeholders, is not unconnected to a cold war that had fumes earlier, between the first executive governor Adamu and senator Al-Makura the third governor in the history of the state, while 2023 is long wait to determine which camp is truly for Engineer Abdullahi Sule,he is not in a hurry to Mar whatever relationship he has with political players of the state.

It would be recalled that Governor Abdullahi Sule’ had in a statement during a solidarity visit on him,in the government house , averred that ” I have forgotten and forgiven who did not vote for me,I am here for you and you are here for me”

But recently, stakeholders from Nasarawa western senatorial zone, led by senator Abdullahi Adamu, who had expressed some level of dislike for A.A Sule, vowed that no candidate in Nasarawa state will contest against ,Engineer Abdullahi Sule come 2023,the senator made this statement last week when they visited the governor in the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall , Government House Lafia.

The question which has remind unanswered is,did the position of Senator Adamu, at this time where there is much expectations from the people on the administration of governor Sule, acceptable to other members of the APC in the state from other zones?

Be it as it may and all things being equal, the Governor Sule’s led administration of Nasarawa state has come to many as a God sent, already attracting men of timber and caliber across political parties, some of such remarkable support from ethnics, political groups ,especially members of the late Dr Akwe Doma ,cabinet and lawmakers of the fourth assembly ,has been laudable.

Governor Sule ,may not go through any thurf in his quest for a second time in office, now that those who were in strong opposition to his earlier ambition in 2019 have collapsed their support for him,but there is yet some hurdles which most give way for a smooth reelectionfor the governor, come 2023.

At the moment ,despite the position of Senator Adamu ,Governor Abdullahi Sule’ ,most not allow the growing fragmentation in his party and coming from his northern senatorial zone, some stakeholders that are aggrieved, suspected to be loyalist of the former deputy governor,Mr Silas Agara and those from the camp of his Special Adviser ,Honourable Yakubu Kwanta

The twist and mixed up is that Silas Agara the former deputy governor to the then governor, Senator Al-Makura , was the brain behind the nomination of Kwanta who became the IMC chairman,Silas also aided the election of the current deputy speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly,, Honourable Nehemiah Tsense, but In the dawn of who become the political leader of the zone, these two officers are at loggerheads with the former deputy governor, causing factions among APC members at Akwanga zone.

It therefore means that until Governor Abdullahi Sule’ mend the broken relationship with stakeholders from his zone, senator Abdullahi Adamu declaration that no APC member in the state will contest the governorship election with Engineer Sule’ is a meer political statement that can not hold water, already and immediately after the statement a young man from senator Adamu’s western senatorial zone, Mohammed Nata’al Mohammed has took to his Facebook handle to declare his interest for governorship, come 2023.
