Robbery Attack: Nasarawa police quell robbery, confirms one dead

Operatives of the Nasarawa state Police Command has foiled an intended robbery attack,along Lafia-shendam road at Gidan Gambo. The robbers were already mounting road block to rob unsuspecting commuters.
This was disclosed to newsmen in a press statement,signed by the command spokesman,ASP Ramhan Nansel on behalf of the state commissioner of Police Barrister Bola Longe,on Monday in Lafia the state capital.
According to the statement,the police command received a distress call that, hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers had blocked the road at Gidan Gambo along lafia-shandam road with the intent to rob unsuspecting commuters.
The statement reads in part “Upon the receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police mobilized Police personnel attached to Assakio Police Station and a team of Safer Highway personnel to the area.
” Where a gun duel ensued; consequently, the hoodlums were dislodge and one suspected armed robberyet to be identified was fatally wounded as a result of a superior gun fire and was rushed to the hospital, however,the Doctor on call confirmed him dead” The statement.
The statement also revealed that a machete and knife was recovered from him as exhibit, while others escaped into the bush with bullet wounds and that Police personnel are still combing the bush in order to arrest the other fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe Psc(+) therefore, warns all criminals and those having criminal intension to flee from Nasarawa State or turn a new lease on life else, the arm of the law will catch up with them soonest.
