…As OPU Women’s wing gets New Exco after 15 years

The Regent of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa (Ezeammaalu Oba), President General, Oba Patriotic Union (OPU) Rev. Chris Emelie, Hon Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana) have advised the newly elected leadership of the OPU Women’s wing to embrace the virtues of submissiveness, Unity and Love.

The OPU Women’s wing popularly called ‘Inyom Oba’ inaugurated a new executive committee led by Mrs Ngozi Onwuka after about a 15 years- Laudable -regime of Chief Mrs. Janet Okeke.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the inauguration which took place during the 2022 Women August meeting at the Oba Civic center, Idemili South,Anambra State, Prince Ezenwa reminded the women that they remain a subdivision of OPU.

“Inyom Oba has embarked on a lot of projects and achieved much. Even the Oba Court building was built and is owned by our women. We are leaning on their generosity to use that place as Magistrate court.

“Inyom Oba is a subdivision of OPU which is the larger umbrella. Wether Women’s wing, Men’s wing, Inyom Oba should see the men as part of the family and work as one family in unity of purpose,” said Prince Ezenwa.

According to the PG, Rev Chris Emelie, I have convinced the Inyom Oba to always take instructions from us as the parent Union. The women is an organ of OPU.

“Let the new exco toe the line of their past leaders who did a lot. Although we expect the current leadership to do better and work in love,” said Emelie.

Moreover, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) aspirant for House of Representatives Idemili North and South Constituency, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana) after soliciting for the women’s votes encouraged them to remain united in love as a broom.

“A stick of broom can be broken but the broom can never be broken. Let Inyom Oba come together as one because unity and love attracts progress and developments so that the great name of Oba will keep soaring above other communities,” said Iyiegbu.

Also, Alternate Chairman EzeOkpoko II Selection Committee, Nze Ifeanyi Onwupenata (Obiaomee Oba) recalled that when Oba Community was undergoing crises the women stood together to ensure peace which later paid off.

“Oba women are known to be submissive to their husbands. When there was no peace in Oba, Inyom Oba maintained unity and peace. Let them continue that way, they will accomplish greater feats,” said Onwupenata.

Moreso, Outgoing Treasurer, Lady Vicky Onyeka (Ezeluagbo) an ardent supporter of the new Inyom Oba leader (Mrs. Ngozi Onwuka) called for love, truthfulness and dynamysm in every home, relationship and leadership as a virtue for peace and progress.

“I strongly believe that although we achieved a lot with our President, Mrs Janet Okeke but Onwuka who is young, energetic and experienced will carry along the younger executive members to do much more better than we did,” said Mrs Onyeka.

However, the newly elected OPU Women wing executives include: National President- Mrs Ngozi Chizoba Onwuka, 1st Vice President- Lady Christy Ubadike, 2nd VP- Mrs Chinwe Obiabumuo JP, Secretary-Mrs Gladys Anyadiegwu, Assistant Sec-Mrs Ngozi Obienu, 2nd Asst Sec-Mrs Christy Maduekwe.

Others are Financial Secretary- Mrs Amaka Igwilo, Treasurer-Mrs Charity Agbanusi, Chief Provost-Mrs Nkoli Ikeogu, Deputy Provost-Virginia Nwabunike, Auditor 1-Mrs Nwadiogo Umezulike, Auditor2-Dr. Lady Tessy Uzor, Auditor 3-Mrs Joy Ikwuemesibe

In her acceptance speech, the new Inyom Oba helmsman, Mrs Ngozi Onwuka after giving glory to God thanked the past executives, stakeholders and entire women wing for considering them worthy to pilot their affairs.

Mrs Onwuka promised to be submissive and to carry out her duties in the fear of God and the interest of ‘Odimma’ Inyom Oba and entire Oba Community soliciting ideas and innovations that would drastically move the wing unto greater accomplishments.
