Queen’s Convent Confirmation 2020: Archbishop Ibezim Confirms 63 Students, admits 98 into Girl’s Guild

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Grace, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim on Tuesday, confirmed a total of Sixty- three (63) students of Queens’ Convent, Awka.

The Anglican Prelate also admitted no fewer than ninety eight ( 98) students of the same school into the Girls’ guild of the Awka Diocese.


Speaking at the occasion, Archbishop Ibezim noted that the essence of the confirmation was to prepare the young girls to live a holy life, a life that is without sin and corruption.

While the Archbishop maintained that Queen’s Convent is moulding the girls to become valuable to the society, he urged the school management to make their training all round as according to him training a woman is training a nation.

Archbishop Ibezim futher said that Girls’ Guild society is a way of taming young girls and advised them to dissociate themselves from sexual immorality especially during the Yuletide break.

He advised them to keep themselves holy and reminded them that their body is the temple of God and as such must be kept holy.

Delivering his sermon, Venerable Ekene Nwafor of St. Michaels and All Angels Church, Ifite Awka admonished the students to shun bad life and sexual immorality in all its ramifications while  urging them to instead develop close relationship with God.

Ven Nwafor while speaking on “Character and Integrity,” said that a person’s character is measured through his activity when out of sight, urging the students to “maintain full determination to remain corrupt free even as the society has been filled with corruption.”

While Ven Nwafor referred integrity as quality of having and adhering to strong moral principles, he said character of integrity exhibits obedience and practice of moral code of ethics in Gods work.

He said honour and reliability are two key benefits of life of integrity adding that both are also essential for deeper relationship with God.

He further said that absence of integrity is an indication that Christianity is fake even as he reminded that hypocrisy, dishonesty as well as corruption among among others are opposite of God’s call.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Queens’ Convent, Awka and President Mothers’ Union, Girls’ Guild, Diocese of Awka, Mrs Martha Chioma Ibezim commended the Archbishop of Awka Diocese for his unflinching support to the rapid growth of the school.

Mrs Ibezim said that God has used Bishop Ibezim to erect a wonderful school for them, adding that his efforts was born out of the desire to impact life of women and girl child in the society.


Earlier, the Chaplain Queen’s Convent Awka, Reverend Jonathan Ikpoyi lauded the feats recorded in the school in few years by the dedication and commitment of Archbishop Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD and the Principal, Mrs Martha Chioma Ibezim.
