Ufuma, Anambra State – November 6, 2025:
The Old Aguata Union (OAU) has formally endorsed the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for a second term in office, while strongly dissociating the Union from recent statements credited to its former National President, Prof. Orajika, which it described as “reckless and baseless.”

In a well-attended expanded executive meeting (Ime Obi OAU) held at the country home of the National President, Nze Sir Godwin Uchime (Afu Dike Ebie Ogu na Orumba, Ikenga Uvume Egbe na Diji), leaders of the Union—including its National and State Executives, 45 Presidents-General of the Old Aguata communities, and Women Leaders—collectively reaffirmed their pride and confidence in Governor Soludo’s leadership.

Speaking during the meeting, Chief Uchime extolled Governor Soludo as “the pride and identity of Old Aguata”, emphasizing that the Governor’s performance in office has continued to draw commendation across Nigeria.

“We in the Old Aguata Union are proud of our beloved son, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo. His works speak for him. As others in Anambra State and beyond endorse him for another term, we join our voices in full support, declaring our total commitment to his re-election,” Chief Uchime stated.

Several dignitaries—including the Chairmen of Presidents-General of Aguata, Orumba North, and Orumba South LGAs, as well as members of the Soludo Support Group of OAU extraction—listed various achievements of the Soludo administration, notably in infrastructure, education, and urban renewal.

Dr. Raymond Offor, Chairman of the Orumba North PG Forum, particularly highlighted the Ufuma–Awa–Amesi road project and the ongoing dualization of the Ekwulobia–Ufuma Road, describing them as transformative developments that have opened up the region for economic and social growth.

On the controversial remarks by Prof. Orajika, a former Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and past OAU President, the Union’s leaders condemned his statements against the Governor, labeling them as “unfortunate” and “a betrayal of the collective spirit of Old Aguata.”

Chief Innocent Ike-Ibe (Omenka of Akpu) dismissed Orajika’s comments as “cheap blackmail,” while others accused the former president of playing into the hands of opposition elements. The Union, in its communiqué, formally distanced itself from Orajika’s utterances, reaffirming its loyalty and admiration for the Governor.

The OAU Women’s Leader, Prof. Rose Nwankwor, applauded the Governor’s inclusive governance and called on all women across the 45 autonomous communities of Old Aguata to “come out en masse and support a son who has brought honor and progress to our region.”

Concluding the meeting, the OAU reaffirmed its commitment to Anambra’s zoning arrangement, urging other senatorial zones to maintain equity and balance in political representation.

Hon. Dr. Ben Nwankwo (Ishengidi Orumba) added a symbolic note, saying that on November 8, 2025, the people of Old Aguata would “send a thunderous vote of confidence” for Governor Soludo through massive turnout at the polls.
