NAMA to Resume $300 Helicopter Landing Fee Collection
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has announced plans to resume the collection of the controversial $300 landing fee from helicopter operators in the country. Speaking at the ongoing 53rd Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association in Kano State on Thursday, Tayo John, NAMA’s Director of Air Traffic Services, stated that the fee collection was essential for alleviating the agency’s current financial challenges. John explained that although the Federal Government had previously intervened to suspend the fee shortly after its initial implementation a few months ago, there would be no reversal this time. He did not specify a date for when the fee collection would officially resume. “We will begin collecting the $300 landing fee from helicopter operators in the coming weeks. We had started earlier, but the government asked us to halt it due to national concerns. This time, however, the collection will proceed,” John confirmed.
