Japan Hit by Magnitude 7.5 Earthquake, Dozens Injured

A strong earthquake off Japan’s coast injured at least 30 people, damaged roads, and left thousands without power in freezing temperatures, authorities said Tuesday.

The Japan Meteorological Agency reported the quake struck at 11:15 pm on Monday (1415 GMT) and revised its initial magnitude from 7.6 to 7.5, warning that similar or stronger tremors could follow in the coming days.
