Igwe Uke advise Youths to shun Mkpurumiri, celebrates 2nd Ofala

Igwe Surv. Charles Agbala of Uke has advised youths against the use of hard drugs especially the methamphetamine also known as Mkpurumiri saying that people addicted to drugs seldom amount to anything in life.

Igwe Agbala, the Chairman of Idemili North& South traditional rulers council gave the admonition during his second ofala celebration since ascending the throne of Uke Community in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Speaking at his palace, Igwe Agbala said that ofala festival in Uke which holds every five years remains a time of Thanksgiving to God and blessings of the members of the community and Uke land.

He said that it was also a time of recognising illustrious indigenes of the community who have contributed immensely to the peace and development of the Uke town.

“You can see that several sons of Uke which we are proud of were conferred with Chieftaincy titles on merit.You cannot see any of them either smoking or peddling Mkpurumiri or other forms of hard drugs.

“We give glory to God for the peace,prosperity we enjoy in Uke Community today. We strongly believe in Governor Willie Obiano’s think home philosophy. Uke sons from America built us a modern healthcare Center.

“We also wish that Uke indigenes in Europe, United kingdom should also come and invest just as the Uke-USA Association and even our son Chief Tochukwu Tokas Kpajie(Okunenyeife) who constructed road in Uke Community,”said Igwe Agbala.

Chief Donatus Enendu Dikeora eulogized the achievements of Igwe Agbala saying that the synergy between the cabinet members, the chiefs and town union has attracted lots of development to the community.

Some of the people who received Chieftaincy titles include Chief Ifeanyi Okeke(Ochiagha Uke), Dr Emmanuel Nwokedi (Akaekpuchife Uke) and the President General of Uke,Chief Ezeoba Chuks Igboanua (Ogene Uke).

Their friends,Chief Okey Ilonzo (Nnabuenyi), Dr. Frank Chiedu Aroh and Chief Joseph Ezeh (Udemba),Igwe Bonaventure Dikezeghieze of Onitsha Catholic diocesan Youths, Stakeholders of a Lagos based football club led by the President Ifediorah Chioke Ayinefongwu eulogized their achievements.

After receiving the Ochiagha Uke title, Dr. Okeke a US Navy Commander with fellow recipients thanked Igwe, Ndi ichie Ukwu and entire Community for such recognition.

They said that they would continue to reach out to the less privileged knowing that all hands were not equal and keep contributing to the peace and development of their Community.

Other dignitaries present include several traditional rulers from neighboring Communities, G-20 Uke Development Committee of friends, State Government officials.

They all prayed for wisdom, peace,long life and good health for Igwe Uke and his wife, Lolo Maureen Agbala(Ocheze) advising youths to stay off hard drugs but rather seek to be celebrated as heroes of their Community.
