Ekwegbalu Murder: Anambra Govt Begins Manhunt To Fish out Killers

Following the gruesome murder of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Anambra State Governor on Security, Mr Azubuike Ekwegbalu, the state government has vowed to embarked on manhunt for the killers.

A release signed by the Commissioner for Information And Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba said that the Police were suspecting that his death may be a case of homicide.

According to the statement, Mr Ekwegbalu was a thorough, quiet, unassuming, energetic and dedicated security official whose forte was intelligence gathering.

It explained that to carry out his duties faithfully, effectively and efficiently, he kept a low-profile in the public space throughout the years he was in office as the SSA to the Governor on Security and was not known to most government officials as well as declined the use of any paraphernalia that could give him out as an intelligence operative.

The statement disclosed that he had in the last few months devoted his energy and professional intelligence to monitoring cults in various parts of the state following an increase in the menace of young cult members in educational institutions and elsewhere and had recorded outstanding results .

It regretted that Mr Ekwegbalu’s tragic death was a serious setback to the fight against the cult menace and crime generally in the state.

The statement said his death was reported accordingly to Governor Willie Obiano, who in turn, contacted the Azubuike family and commiserated with them.

It added that Anambra State Government is working with security agencies and will do everything in its power to apprehend those responsible for Mr Ekwegbalu’s death, as it has successfully done over the years in similar deaths assuring all Anambra people, once again, that it will stop at nothing to make the state remain the safest and most peaceful state in Nigeria.
