Just In: Ondo Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi Decamps To ZLP

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi has officially resigned as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The Deputy Gov according to his Media Adviser, Allen Sowore in a statement in Akure said his decision to resign was as a result of the call on him by a majority of the good people of Ondo State to give hope to the hopeless, provide credible and purposeful leadership in our dear State.

The deputy governor has, therefore, reassured his teaming supporters to remain focused and committed as he will be announcing his next line of action shortly. Ajayi appreciated the National Leadership and members of the party for their warm reception and acceptance in the short period he rejoined the party.

The chairman of the PDP in Apoi Ward ii of Ese-Odo Local Government Area, Festus Oboro acknowledged the receipt of the resignation letter on 9th of August, 2020.

Meanwhile, Ajayi has secured the blessings of the National Executive Committee of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to contest the October governorship election on its platform. The Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, who confirmed this, said the National leadership of the party had cleared Ajayi as the party’s candidate in the October governorship election in the state.

According to Akinlaja, Ajayi would formally join the ZLP on Tuesday and would be formally unveiled as the candidate of the ZLP for the governorship election. He said the ZLP was poised to winning the governorship election in October, saying the party remains a party to beat in the forthcoming governorship election.

Ajayi who resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in June, joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he contested the party primary in July but lost the ticket to Eyitayo Jegede.
