On a day when Christians of the Roman Catholic Faith in Nigeria and worldwide commemorated the kingship and authority of Jesus Christ (Christ the King), Mrs. Ngozi Angela Onyekwere (Ndianaefo) grandly celebrated her 50th birthday with her twin sons, Cosmos and Damian Onyekwere.

The Feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, which coincides with the birthday anniversaries of Mrs Onyekwere and her twin sons born November 23rd.

Mrs Onyekwere and her children celebrated their birthday with Thanksgiving to God at St Felix Catholic Church Nise in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Delivering his homily, Rev Fr Joel Okechukwu charged Christians to recognize that Christ’s kingship is not of this world, and they should therefore prioritize His will over worldly pursuits like power, wealth, or self-pleasure.

“Christians must recognize that Christ’s kingship is not of this world, and we must prioritize His will over worldly pursuits of power, wealth, or self-pleasure.

“As followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard, one that values humility, compassion, and service to others.

“Let us not be swayed by the fleeting allurement of this world, but instead, let us fix our eyes on the eternal kingdom of God, where true joy, peace, and fulfillment can be found.”

After the Mass, the congregation left St Felix’s Catholic Church Nise to celebrate Jesus Christ as king, marching from St Felix’s Catholic Church to St Stephen’s Catholic Parish, Isiakpu presided over by Rev. Fr. Clement Ufoaroh.

At the gathering of Roman Catholic faithful in Nise, Rev.Fr. Lawrence Onwuaso of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Parish Ara, Nise, said the sermon eulogizing Jesus Christ as the king of the world who must be reverred and worshipped.

www.odogwublog.com reports that the birthday of Mrs Onyekwere and her twin sons was a testament to her remarkable life, with hundreds of family, friends, schoolmates, as well as well-wishers gathering  to celebrate their milestone.

Speaking to journalists, Mrs Onyekwere credited God for her life and successes, attributing her achievements to happiness, faith, and perseverance. She expressed surprise at being born on Christ the King day – a coincidence she shares with her twin sons – and was joyful celebrating her Golden Jubilee alongside them.

“I was born on Christ the King day, and my twin sons share the same birthday, making it a special celebration. I’m thrilled to mark my Golden Jubilee on this day, grateful to have reached this milestone despite challenges in the country, especially considering two of my brothers didn’t live to see 50.”

Onyekwere, a renowned producer of Angel’s Food (Mama Mmeso Soya Milk drink), explained that she had been in the community for 23 years, building a business that connected her with people, and had tried various other ventures before settling on soya milk.

She advised the younger generation to be patient and trust that their turn would come, saying slow and steady wins the race. She also shared her secret to a youthful look, saying it was purely happiness and letting go of problems and trusting in God’s will.

Her immediate elder brother, Mr Chukwuemeka Ndianaefo described the celebrant as a good, patient, and God-fearing woman. He shared the sad loss of two brothers at young ages, making Mrs Onyekwere’s 50th birthday a joyful gift from God and worth celebrating.

“She is a good person who is patient with the things of life. She is not troublesome because she grew up with the fear of the Lord.

“We lost one of our brothers at the age of 23, and the other at the age of 39, which is very sad. So it is a thing of joy that she has attained the age of 50 and is still counting. It is a gift from God and such calls for celebration,” he said.

Earlier while declaring the event open, Chairman of the occasion, Nze Chinedu Nweke remarked that November-born individuals are always special, stressing that it is only when one has made a positive impact on society that they receive grand celebrations.

He stated that Mrs Onyekwere’s life and actions had earned her the special recognition, adding that the event was a testimony of her kindness, generosity, and commitment to her community. He also said her good deeds had made her a beloved figure in Nise and beyond.

Also speaking, Mrs Agatha Eze, Onyekwere’s Nise landlady, described her as a lover of peace and a woman blessed by God with good health and a vibrant body.

She said, “I’m very happy to see how young and vibrant she looks for her age. We thank God for the good health and life He has given her – she’s got health, life, and youth, all at the same time! We pray God adds more years to her life, in good health.

“As her landlady, I have always seen her as my sister since she moved in. She’s a great person to have around, never quarrelsome or a headache. She is all about peace and kindness.”

President of St John of God Class of 1994, Mrs Ifeoma Azubuike described the celebrant as a jolly and loving person since their school days, noting that their presence was to show her love and support.

She advised the younger generation to prioritize peace and love among peers and to support one another. She also urged children to honour their parents, as instructed in the Bible, to have long and fruitful lives.

Madam Onyekwere’s brother-in-law, Mr Ikenna Ikeobi, praised the celebrant’s diligence, hardwork, and dedication to things of God, noting that golden jubilee is not easily achieved. “Reaching 50 is not easy, especially with the country’s challenges. We pray she lives long, celebrates more, and her children grow God-fearing, caring for her in old age,” he added.

Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu encouraged everyone to appreciate God and celebrate life’s milestones while alive, stressing that it is better not to delay until one is gone to celebrate or be celebrated.

“There’s no reason to wait until you die to celebrate or be celebrated. Despite scarce resources, call people to rejoice with you while you’re alive.

“It’s great she’s witnessing everyone celebrating, enjoying, and sharing this moment with her. I wish everyone would learn to appreciate God and celebrate life while they are still living.”

The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and joy, as Mama Mmeso and her twin sons celebrated their special day with loved ones.
