Chief Afunwa, ezewachinemere spices new yam festival celebration in Lagos

Igbo tribe is one of the three major tribes in Nigeria and they are endowed with rich cultural heritage.One of the major cultural festivals that the Igbo’s celebrate is the new yam festival “Iri -ji”.

Igbo tribe in every part of Nigeria celebrates this unique festival;it was epochal as the Igbo community in Iyana Paja under the leadership of Ezechinemere Ezenigbo na Iyana Paja gathered to celebrate this unique festival.

The event which was organised and coordinated by chief Afunwa, Chief Tochukwu nwaokereke Udeogaranya was held at Agba guest house, Oki Road was attended by great personalities from the Igbo tribe,Aero, an aspirant contesting for a senatorial seat under PDP was also at the event.

It was also an opportunity to showcase the culture of the Igbos’ as a masquerade from Okija was present at the event and it is forbidden to take photographs of it, different Igbo dance groups were also present as different individuals donated money to take part in the ceremony.
