Breaking: Anambra begins COVID-19 vaccination
Anambra State Government, Thursday, flagged off COVID-19 vaccination (Oxford Astra Zeneca) in the state.
The flag off ceremony was performed by Governor Willie Obiano at the State Cold Store, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
The governor announced that Anambra State received the first batch of 78,000 doses and advised ndi Anambra to register for the vaccination.
He announced that apart from the symbolic vaccination, frontline health workers will be prioritised in the line up.
He urged eligible Anambrians to be vaccinated against coronavirus as soon as possible.

While pointing out that he had taken his own, the governor said that the vaccination usually come in two tranches, stressing that it can save lives from COVID-19.
He added that it has no side effects, saying that the federal government is serious about the vaccination and encouraged ndi Anambra to fill the online form to queue up for vaccination.
Governor Obiano concluded by saying that despite being vaccinated, people should still maintain the protocols till people around them are vaccinated.
The governor maintained that the frontline medical personnel, top on the priority list, were among the people to be vaccinated with the first batch of the jabs.
Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor, Secretary to Anambra State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, traditional ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor and his Mbaukwu counterpart, Igwe Peter Anugwu, among others took the vaccine immediately after the ceremony.
The Anambra State Who state coordinator, Doctor Chukwumuanya Igboekwu noted that the COVID-19 vaccine was made possible through the COVAX facility of WHO and partners to enable all countries to have equitable access to COVID-19, saying that the introduction of the vaccine have four phases.
Earlier the Executive Secretary of Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu revealed that once people register online, they will queue up to be vaccinated in the healthcare center closest to them.
