Bishop Udogu ordains Ernest Okolo, 7 others Ordinands for Afikpo diocese

The Anglican Bishop of Afikpo diocese, Rt. Rev. Paul A. Udogu (JP), has ordained Ernest Kanayochukwu Okolo and seven others ordinands at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Amasiri, Afikpo North, Ebonyi state. They would be made priests after one year. At the event, Bishop Udogu ordained five Priests.

The Ordinands made Deacons were: Ord. James Anyadubalu; Ord. Ernest kanayochukwu Okolo; Ord. Christian O. Iloh; Ord. John Nnanna Ayogu; Ord. David Chukwu Chukwu; Ord. Onyeka Agu; Ord John Ndigwe Igweoba and Ord. Okah Ezeh from the Nigerian Army Chaplaincy, Lagos).


Those Deacons made priests were: Rev. Sabastine Uchenna Nwoga; Rev. Sunday Uwakwe; Rev. Valentine Oti; Rev. Ernest Alaike; and Rev. Lambert Nwafor Okanume.

The sermon was preached by the Ven. Dr. Felix C. Chukwuma of the Anglican Diocese of Nike, Enugu state. The topic of the sermon was Chosen, appointed, and ordained to bear fruits from John 15:8 & 16.


He said all Christians are chosen and appointed to bear fruit, however, he made it clear that not all Christians are called to be ordained ministry, but that notwithstanding, all must bear the same expected fruits.


He said: ‘’Christians have the sole responsibility of evangelizing the world…not only for the Ordained but to all and sundries in Christendom. He also talked about the priesthood of all believers- that by the virtue of being a Christian that we are also priests, princes and princesses.

He said further that what God expects from us, both the Laity and the Ordained is that we may bear much fruits for the Lord as we remain Good and worthy ambassadors of Heaven.

Fund was raised for mission and Evangelism work in Afikpo Diocese with Amanuke people in their large numbers to pay solidarity for their son Revd Ernest Kanayochukwu Okolo.


In a speech, Ordinand Kanayochukwu Okolo thanked God for the wondrous things He has done for him on the 30th day of June , 2019. He said the date that would always remain indelible in my heart.


‘’It was a day I was initiated in to the first stage of the Holy Order of priesthood in the Anglican Communion.
