It was a moment of jubilation and love among the women of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Anglican Church Awka, as they celebrated their Love Feast. The highlight of the event was the exceptional kindness shown by the presiding priest’s wife, Barr. Mrs. Chioma Egwuonwu, Vice President of the Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild, and Girls’ Guild. In addition to the general exchange of gifts, Barr. Egwuonwu surprised the women, including other priests’ wives and the church teacher, with specially wrapped items.

Barr. Egwuonwu’s benevolence sparked joy and emotional moments among the women, who expressed their gratitude, noting that such an innovative and generous act was unprecedented.

The Love Feast, which commenced immediately after the usual Sunday service, featured special song renditions, news casts, dances, and dramas performed by different groups within the women’s fellowship: Love Family, Faith Family, Joy Family, and Peace Family.

During the church service, the presiding priest, Ven. Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu, delivered a sermon on the theme “Christian Fellowship: How Important?” based on Matthew 18:19-20. Ven. Egwuonwu emphasized the significance of the gathering place and the purpose of the gathering. He noted that while people gather for various reasons, the church gathers for a specific purpose.
“We gather in the name of Jesus, and gathering in the name of Jesus means reflecting His image and identity, not our own. It is no longer about personal interest; the identity of Jesus unifies us. It is not about showing your position or wealth; it’s about glorifying God,”

Ven. Egwuonwu stated.
He further explained that not gathering in the name of Jesus can lead to arrogance, causing one to see others as servants, which manifests in one’s attitude.

At the Love Feast, Barr. Mrs. Egwuonwu thanked the women and prayed that they continue to live in the love of God.
