The Anambra State Pilgrims Office has sought stronger partnership with the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Southeast Zonal Office, to strengthen Christian pilgrimage administration and promotion in Anambra State.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Pilgrims Affairs, Hon. Barr. Odira Ezeh, made the call during a familiarisation visit to the NCPC Southeast Zonal Office, Enugu.
Barr. Ezeh said the visit was aimed at establishing a stronger working relationship with the Commission and understanding how Anambra State could effectively engage the NCPC on pilgrimage matters.
He noted that the Southeast Zonal Office brings NCPC services closer to Christians in the region, providing easier access to information, guidance, clarification and necessary support without frequent journeys to Abuja.
The SSA highlighted Governor Soludo’s renewed attention to Christian pilgrimage, saying the administration was opening a new chapter by reviving public awareness and participation in pilgrimage activities across Anambra State.
He also announced plans for an Anambra State Pilgrims Summit, which would bring together religious leaders, schools, government representatives and stakeholders to promote awareness and participation among Ndi Anambra.
Barr. Ezeh said Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim would host the proposed summit, with Governor Soludo as Chief Host, noting the administration’s commitment to creating more pilgrimage opportunities for residents.
Responding, the Zonal Coordinator, NCPC Southeast Zonal Office, Mrs. Opara Nneamaka Gladys, described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and assured the Anambra team of continued guidance and support.
Discussions during the engagement covered pilgrimage arrangements, travel and airspace developments, and the responsibilities of state pilgrimage officials and NCPC, ending with a commitment to regular communication and joint action.
