Anambra Governorship Race: Behold a Lawmaker whose Time is NOW!

- The qualities of a political leader are an important element of politics and influence on political attitudes. The personality of such a politician is also an element especially when it plays down to political behaviour.
2. In Africa, particularly Nigeria, it is necessary to always examine the qualities of a politician in order to make the right decisions of electing such person into government position. This is duly paramount owing to the established facts that we had had (and of course continued to have) politicians that bask in the euphoria of personal aggrandizement.
3. As a strong advocate of good governance, I do keep my insistence that, the essence of politics is all about alleviating the sufferings of the people, and this is done through provision of all necessary social amenities. Politics was not made for the enrichment of a few greedy and power drunk individuals. It was made for everyone to be treated fair and equal. It was made for every citizen to enjoy good social amenities amidst better economic policies. Hence, politicians are formed to participate in the running of a state or country. They are formed to participate in the running of national affairs through an electoral process via the people’s power of a thumb print.
4. Over time, people consciously or unconsciously make the mistake of electing the wrong leaders into government positions. But politics is a serious task that only needs a competent personality to sail through the sea of governance into a land of sustainable developments. Identifying a good political leader, however, is not difficult as many a people may think. It is simple; only that it may require, in addition, a process of antecedent backup.
5. To properly identify a good politician and sieve him out among the crowd of politicians seeking same position of power, in this case, the race to replace HE Willie Obiano as the Governor of Anambra State, three core qualities come to mind, and these are: Authenticity, Competence, and Integrity.
6. Authenticity is the capacity of a politician to be perceived to understand the concerns of the people and share an understanding of their everyday lives, while competence is associated with skill, effectiveness, and getting things done. Integrity, on the other hand, is associated with honesty, keeping promises and being true to principles.
7. We must understand, furthermore, that politicians vary according to their level of experience in the political dispensation. Thus, we have political novices, political experts and political professionals.
8. Political novices, by my own definition, are those politicians who just gained admission into the life of politics straight from their educational, business or social careers. Political experts are defined as those who have been in the political space for a period of one or two political tenures, and political professionals are those who have been in the life of politics for a decade or more with good developmental strides to their credit.
9. For a society that wants to be littered with the provision of good governance and sound economic policies, the election of a political professional is best suited and advised.
10. In Anambra State, specifically, a political leader who has the interest of the people at heart and will take them into account in decision making processes is of utmost priority in this current political dispensation where the incumbent government has turned the state into a ‘plight of the nation’.
11. Notwithstanding, ndi Anambra need to establish trustworthiness by asking the pertinent question: Is there an available political professional who wants to take our interests or welfare into account in his actions? A resounding YES! is the answer.
12. As an Anambra State citizen, if you love Anambra State in respect to the implementation of sustainable development goals, as this current government is getting set to vacate office in March, 2022, I beseech you to say yes to Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu (IfeanyiChukwu Nnewi) as his most suitable replacement.
13. Currently representing the good people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly is the man with the sobriquet of “Mr Project”. Engr Azubogu earned the sobriquet of course by merit of his uncountable landmark achievements that are littered not only in his constituency, but across the length and breath of Anambra State. It is he who is that lawmaker whose time is NOW! Now is the time to project him to the executive table where he will sit to implement his visionary plans for the betterment of you and me- the people! Now is the time to elect him into the seat of power where he gets the absolute freedom to build for us a system that can solve our present and future problems. Now is the time, ndi be anyi!
14. There are established facts on ground to truly prove that Engr Azubogu is the politician who loves to act in the best interests of ndi Anambra. Where the quality key of leadership is authenticity, Mr Project is always on ground to perceive the concerns of dear people of Anambra State and promptly shares an understanding of their everyday lives. In the same vein, his competence is topnotch. We are talking of a man of impeccable humility who has been representing one of the Federal Constituencies of Anambra State since 2011 at the National Assembly. In other words, he is currently representing the people for the third time in a row. Ahịa ọma, ndi mmadu sịrị, na-ere onwe ya.
15. While legislators are mandated with the responsibility of making new laws and changing the existing ones, Honourable Azubogu, in his burning passion to serve the people with a quality landmark, surpasses such responsibility into facilitating infrastructural developments for the betterment of his people. In other words, he always maximizes every available opportunity by seizing them by the horns for the benefit of the people he represents. He has, over the years, attracted, installed and commissioned electrification projects that have continued to light the rural communities to this day.
16. Furthermore, he facilitated and completed the rehabilitation of numerous dilapidated roads and bridges to the extent that, there is no local government area in Anambra that is devoid of his inspired projects. In the educational sector, he has rehabilitated and equipped most classrooms that were hitherto abandoned to decay. In employment capacity, he has facilitated direct and indirect jobs for his people, and this is inclusive of the trainings he had organized for the unemployed youths of dear constituency and in which those successfully trained were all empowered with working tools and capital.
17. Should we mention the health sector in which he does an annual medical outreach where thousands of people participate and are successfully treated, operated upon and or attended to medically?
18. If such solid developments for the people are not sustainable ones, what then do we call it? Tell me.
19. We can see, in essence therefore, that Engr Azubogu has the prerequisite skills necessary to pilot the affairs of our dear state from its present status of ‘’the plight of the nation” back to its ‘odogwu’ status of “the light of the nation”. Our dear state needs to get rid of the mess this current government of HE Willie Obiano has plummeted her into and it takes only a man of effectiveness as Engr Azubogu to get the right things done.
20. Of course, the University of Nigeria Nsukka graduate Engineer has an equal impeccable integrity that is not in doubt. Talk of honesty, he is ever honest in discharging his duties and implementing his policies. Talk of keeping promises, IfeanyiChukwu Nnewi never reneged on his words. For a fact, he is always sure of his words before uttering them. He is therefore not one to say one thing and fail to honour it. He keeps solidly to promises and always true to principles.
21. To conclude, our dear state of Anambra need a political professional who has the practical and theoretical experience to build for us a system that can solve our problems; someone whose quality keys of leadership is well enshrined in authenticity, competence and integrity as defined above. The time is now to elect for Governor someone whose track records of achievement as a lawmaker are verifiable across the state.
