2023 Election: Ogbaru youths urge Awogu to contest for Federal House of Representatives

Ahead of 2023 general election in Nigeria, Ogbaru Local Government youths in Anambra State under the aegis of Awogu Team have stated that they are persuading the Transition Council Chairman, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu to contest for the position of Federal House of Representative of their Constituency.

The youths spoke to Journalists in Onitsha through their leader Hon. Anichie Kenechukwu John and deputy leader, Engineer Ochanze Kingsley.

Awogu Team led by Hon. Anichie with Okpoko Youths convener, Sir Emordi Maduabuchi. 

They stated that youths drawn from Okpoko Community down to Ogbuikpere  have mobilized themselves to solicit Hon. Awogu to prepare to represent their Constituency in the green chamber, com 2023 general election.

Hon. Anichie who is an Engineer by profession noted that the outstanding performances of Hon. Awogu as the Ogbaru Local Government Council Chairman gave the youths overview of what he will perform if he represents the entire Ogbaru constituency in the Federal House of Representative.

He recounted  magnanimity of Awogu to the youths and enormous dividend of democracy and projects he attracted in the Ogbaru Local Government, mentioning building of Chairman’s office, renovation of dilapidated buildings in the local government and attraction of 38 government appointments to the Council area for the first time as part of his achievements. 

Hon. Anichie however added that Hon. Awogu played prominent role in Federal Government of Nigeria listing Anambra State as one of the Oil producing States, contending that if Hon. Awogu obliged to their request he would perform more and better.

” We believed that he will comply to our request hence all youths are behind him. We need someone who is vocal, vibrant leader and a youth like Hon. Awogu to represent Ogbaru in the Federal House of Representatives. It is not negotiable,” he posited.

Also, the deputy leader of Awogu Team, Engineer Ochanze Kingsley hinted that leadership in Ogbaru LG is not conducive to the youths until Hon. Awogu became Transition Council Chairman of Ogbaru LG.

He maintained that it is time leadership in the council area shift to the youths and enjoined that youths should rise up to embrace leadership and claim their rightful place in the scheme of things.

Reacting through a telephone chat, Hon. Awogu, affirmed that so many groups, ranging from women to youths, are championing and soliciting him to contest for Federal House of Representative but he told them that he is waiting for God’s appointed time.

“When the appointed God’s time reach, I will speak to the people of Ogbaru Federal constituency for them to know my stand. But certainly, my stand would not disappoint them,” Awogu stated.
