2023: Angry Crowd Throw Stones, Banners And Posters At Tinubu’s Rally in Jos

The presidential campaign flag-off of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jos, Plateau State, tumbled into unrest on Tuesday after furious crowds started tossing banners, posters, placards and stones.

Odogwublog reports that the campaign rally was organised to kickstart the campaign of the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

In a viral video shared online, an APC official, addressing the crowd, could be heard pleading with them to stop disrupting the event as they began throwing away banners and posters they came to the venue with.

While what led to the incident remains unclear at the time of filing this report, the APC official asked security agents not to beat up the unruly crowd.

Meanwhile, there was palpable fear among some chieftains of the APC, passers-by and petty traders who were at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Odogwblog gathered that the APC had fixed its flag-off of the presidential campaign rally for Tuesday, November 15, in Jos.

Thousands of APC leaders and supporters across the country had trooped into the stadium as early as 9am to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari, and the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his entourage to Jos.

However, there was a bomb scare around the venue as security operatives cordoned-off some parts of Tafawa Balewa Street located behind the stadium where many vehicles were parked.

According to LEADERSHIP, there was a bag that was suspiciously dumped on the street, causing fear of a bomb attack. The fear grew worse and enveloped the environment as the news circulated around the stadium.

Immediately, anti-bomb squad deployed to the stadium and other security operatives surrounded some parts of the street from House 8-B (Tafawa Balewa Street) down to the beginning of the street with emergency tapes.

The anti-bomb team was also seen deploying their bomb detection devises at the scene and the exercise lasted for over 40 minutes.
