163 MOUAU Students to Graduate with First Class Honors – VC
A total of 163 students from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Abia, will graduate with First Class honors at the university’s 12th convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday. The Vice-Chancellor of MOUAU, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, revealed this during a press briefing on Thursday in preparation for the event. He announced that 4,743 students from the 2019/2020 to 2023/2024 graduating sets would be awarded first degrees. Professor Iwe provided a breakdown of the degree classifications, with 163 students achieving First Class, 1,710 securing Second Class Upper, 2,114 in Second Class Lower, 734 in Third Class, 9 in the Pass Division, and 42 unclassified. Additionally, 164 individuals will be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, 252 will receive Master’s degrees, and 86 and 49 students will be granted Postgraduate Diplomas. He also highlighted several challenges facing the university, including the non-release of take-off grants by the Federal Government, inadequate facilities, low funding, poor road conditions, and rising energy costs.
