10 year old Nzubechukwu Chiamaka wins 2019 Amichi I can sing competition

The 2019 I can sing gospel music talent hunt organized by St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Amichi, Nnewi South local government area, Anambra State has ended in glory with a ten (10) year old primary five pupil, Miss Nzubechukwu Chiamaka of Church of Divine Compassion, Amichi emerging the overall winner of the 2019 singing competition.

Miss Chiamaka who smiled home with cash of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000) beats other 15 contestants including university undergraduates to reach to the exalted position.

The second price of One hundred thousand naira (N100,000) went to Miss Ijeoma Ezeh of Save the Lost Mission school, Nnobi while Onyebuchi Okonkwo of Cathedral Church of St Andrew, Amichi smiled to bank with cash of seventy thousand naira (N70,000).

The 2019 I can sing gospel music talent hunt is non-denominational having attracted participants from various denominations including, the Roman Catholics, Pentecostals and Anglican amongst others within Amichi axis. This year’s edition is the fourth in the series.

The winner of the third edition of ‘’I can sing Gospel Music Talent Hunt 2018 was a Thirteen years old boy , Master Udochukwu Okereke. He is from Ndikelionwu , and was JSS 2 student of Union Secondary School , Afube Amichi that time.  The first runner-up prize went to Master Okonkwo Onyebuchi and the second runner up went to Master Decency Ifeanyi Umeokoli from Igboukwu , Aguata local government area.  Udochukwu Okereke’s album was launched at the 2019 edition of I can Sing competition. The 2016 and 2017 winners of the competition were Miss. Chinenye Amara and Okey Mehong.

In his address at the 2019 edition, the convener of the I can sing annual programme, Ven  Chukwuebuka Chukwuemeka commended the contestants for their courage in throwing their hat in the ring and charged them not to be keen about the star prices but on the value, the competition will add to them, their family and the society at large.

Venerable Chukwuemeka who is also the Amichi Diocesan Communicator and Amichi Diocesan Administrator stated further: “It has been a long struggle and a spiritual journey. Let me restate here that this project is not really about winning the prize. It is about what you are able to add to yourself. It is about personal development. It is about putting yourself in a position where you are better equipped to serve God, the church as well as leverage on God’s gift in your life to live a more productive life to the benefit of yourself, your family, the church and the wider society.

“The contest is ending today. The rest depends on you. It will be a monumental disappointment if you leave this contest and your presence is not felt in your church. Be that change you desire in the music life of your church. Stop seeking for greener pastures elsewhere. From today, it is your duty to make the pasture green where you are.

He however appreciated the Anglican bishop of Amichi diocese, Rt. Rev’d. Ephraim Ikeakor and his wife, Dame Nkem Ikeakor for their support and encouragement to the them to exercise their own ministry in the cathedral.

He also singled out speaker, Anambra state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, chairman, Orient Group, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, member representing Orumba North and South constituency at the State Assembly, Chief Emeka Aforka, Chairman, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Hon. Engnr. Chieloka Henry Okoye, Barr. Dozie Eriobu, Sir Tim Ugwunne, Prof. U.C Nzewi and others for praise for their various contributions in sustenance of the programme.

In an interview, the winner of the star price, Miss Nzubechukwu Chiamaka thanked God for given her the courage to contest with those she called her seniors and emerge a winner.
The little Chiamaka extended the commendation to her parents for believing in her, the convener, Ven. Chukwuebuka and all the financiers of the programme and assured that the price will not only spur her to sing on unto God but help her surmount the challenges of fear while growing up.

The Assistant coordinator of the ‘I can sing talent hunt, Mr Ikechukwu Umenzeh lauded the Convener, Ven Chukwuebuka Chukwuemeka for being an inspiration for youths across religious groups, decrying that wealthy people spend their monies wrongly rather than channel it into laudable ventures like supporting Ven Chukwuebuka. He said a lot of youths waste out there whereas people who participated in the programme in the past are making waves already.
