ZLP GUBER CANDIDATE AND CEO UNITED NIGERIA AIRLINES, DR. OKONKWO SIGNS THREE MoUs WITH UNIZIK

High Chief Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the forthcoming November 6th Anambra Election on Tuesday, November 2nd 2021, signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, geared towards providing a platform of opportunities for students of the institution in enhancing their potentials and capabilities.

The Faculty of Engineering facilitated the three MoUs signed between the Pro-Value Humanity Foundation (PHF), President of the Nigeria-Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NRCCI) and UNIZIK, focused on research and development of animal feed production by the institution.

The second MoU with the University is on creating an exchange programme with Russian Universities where the Russian Federation is expected to offer about 100 scholarships to Nigeria every year, assisting UNIZIK Students gain admission in Russian Universities and academic staff of the institution travelling to Russia for an exchange programme to enhance their competence in their field of Discipline.

The third MoU signed between PHF and UNIZIK will aid Engineering students of UNIZIK to pursue internship programmes in Engineering Department of the United Nigeria Airlines in the aspect of civil aviation, aviation management and administration as well as Aeronautical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

Reacting, the ZLP Candidate, founder of the Pro-Value Humanity Foundation and Chief Executive of United Nigeria Airlines stated that the signing of the MoUs is a promise fulfilled across all spheres between his team and UNIZIK. Okonkwo disclosed that hitherto in a different forum he had challenged the scholars in the institution to apply ingenuity in developing local content which today is fruitful. Okonkwo assured that the relationship and discussions with UNIZIK will not be truncated irrespective of the outcome of the November 6th Anambra Gubernatorial Election.

In his reaction, UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, FPSN described Dr. Okonkwo as a friend of the University, the Vice-Chancellor ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Frederick Odibo stated that some weeks back Okonkwo was in the institution to receive the report of a research he initiated on Igbo Entrepreneurship ‘Igba Boyi’ project. The scholar emphasized that the MoUs are very apt and relevant to the growth of the University and raising its status. He thanked Dr. Okonkwo for his magnanimity and prayed for him to be successful in all his dealings.

Present at the Council Chambers for the historic event are the members of the University Management, members of the ninth Governing Council of the institution, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Engr. Prof. Joseph Nwabanne as well as the Executives of the Students’ Union Government (SUG).
