NUJ Anambra State Council to Celebrate 35th Anniversary With Awards, Press Week Grand Finale

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council is set to mark its 35th anniversary with the 2026 Man of the Year Awards and Press Week Grand Finale scheduled for Thursday, September 10th, 2026.
The event, with the theme “Anambra NUJ, 35 Years On… Reporting with Truth, Responsibility and Service… But…”, will hold at Annabelle Event Center, along Onitsha-Enugu Expressway, Agu-Awka, by 10AM.
According to the flyer released by the council, the celebration will feature the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals and organizations who have contributed to journalism and societal development in Anambra State.
Key dignitaries expected at the event include:
- Distinguished Guest : Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State
- Chief Host: Comrade Dr. Emeka Odogwu, PhD, JP, Chairman, NUJ Anambra State Council
- Guest Speaker: Victor Agusiobo, FNGE, Veteran Editor and First State Chairman, NUJ Anambra State
- Host: Comrade Alhassan Yahya, National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists
Highlights of the event will include the NUJ Anambra Man of the Year Award and the presentation of the Stella Okunna Ethical Award.
Speaking ahead of the event, organizers said the 35th anniversary is a moment to reflect on the union’s journey in upholding truth, professionalism, and service to the people of Anambra State.
The NUJ Anambra State Council, inaugurated in 1991, has remained a key platform for journalists in the state to promote ethical journalism and press freedom.
Journalists, media stakeholders, and well-wishers across the state are expected to attend the grand finale.
