It is very unimaginable that a sane woman who equally is a nursing mother can punish her house maid to the extent of piercing a six inch nail into her head, massaging hot pressing electric iron on her body, and inserted ground pepper into her vagina, for allegedly not taking proper care of her child and for absconding from her some other domestic duties.

The above scenario sounds strange and seems like a fairy tale but it happened real and was an ugly fate that befell a 10 year old girl named, Miss Nneoma Nnadi, who lives with her supposed relation Mrs Ifeoma  Ezia  and her husband, at ‘Thinkers Corner axis of Enugu metropolis.

Mrs Ifeoma Ezia from Aku community in Igbo Etiti local government area of Enugu state but married to Mr Ezia from Udi local government area, presently blessed with two issues had brought Miss Nneoma Nnadi from same community with her, as a house help at her tender age.

The Enugu state police investigations are currently investigating the circumstances under which Mrs Ifeoma Ezia deliberately pierced a six inch nail into the head of her house help, Miss Nneoma Nnadi, and also used a hot electric iron to massage various parts of her body. Miss Nneoma Nnadi is currently wallowing in pains at Enugu state university teaching hospital [ESUTH], Park lane, Enugu, after close neighbours alerted the police of the dangerous act administered by Mrs Ezia on her maid.

It was gathered that the sin or crime of Miss Nnadi, the house help was the fact that while she was carrying her aunt’s new born on a particular date, at about 12 midnight she dosed off and the little baby fell off from her hands, however, without any injury.

As a payback for the minor incident, her auntie Mrs Ifeoma Ezia, switched on their pressing iron to rise to a high temperature and as soon as the pressing iron was hot , she used it to massage various parts of the body of her maid, Miss Nnadi and thereafter pierced a nail on her head. With pains of the malicious treatment, Miss Nneoma was unable to continue to discharge her domestic duties effectively even as her auntie thereafter did not care to give ordinary first aid treatment to her.

For being unable to attend to her domestic duties, Miss Nnadi’s punishment continued. For her delay on washing  of plates on Thursday, July 2, three canes was used to unleash terror all over her body in spite of  the wounds already inflicted  over her body, aftermath of the  electric iron used on her the previous day. The police  gathered that ground pepper was equally inserted into Miss Nnadi’s private parts this time around, after which she was locked inside the toilet by her Madam cum auntie, Mrs Ifeoma Ezia.

Miss Nnadi’s screams from toilet at this point aroused the attention of one of their neighbours who rushed into their apartment, rescued and rushed her to hospital. Miss Nnadi is currently admitted at Park lane General hospital, Enugu. The Enugu state police commissioner, Abdulraaman, have confirmed the arrest of Mrs Nneoma Ezia, promising to charge her to court after police investigations.

The ugly incident which has continued to generate reactions among residents of the coal city has received the condemnation of ‘Women aid Collective [WACOL], a Non-governmental organization[NGO] which harps on fair play and justice for women and children. The WACOL  Executive Director, Prof. Mrs Joy Ezeilo in a press statement released in Enugu, tasked the police to investigate the incident appropriately, unravel the circumstances under which it occurred and brought the culprits to book, as a deterrent to others.
