Widow brutalized in Awka over family property, calls for help

A widow named Mrs Njideka Onuko from Umudioka village in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State was recently subjected to domestic violence over family property.

The victim, a second wife to late Chief Francis Onuko of Umudioka Village was badly dehumanized after she was beaten by the children of late husbands first wife.

In a video that went viral in various online platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, she was physically abused by her step son and daughters before the full glare of other members of the first wife’ s family.

The Imo state-born Njideka is married to Late Chief Francis Onuko of Umudioka Village, Awka. She has been at loggerheads with children of her husband’s first wife over her own son’s shear of the family inheritance.

According to Mrs Njideka, since her husband’s demise, family of her husband’s first wife had been trying to evict her from her son’s inheritance at all cost despite the fact that the property was willed to her son by her late husband.

According to Mrs Njideka, efforts made to oppose her step children and their mother from taking over her son’s shear of the property, landed her the most brutal beating of her live from the said children.

She also claimed that the children had been assaulting her and her children at will without fear of being prosecuted and because they have people in authorities.

According to her one of her abuser in the video had been boasting that they cannot be arrested because they have people in government.

The victim noted that those in the video clips had conspired to dehumanised her and her children and complained that one of the females among them was filming her nakedness and sharing the image on the internet as others tortured her.

She however called on the Police, Ministry of Children and Women Affairs, Gov. Charles Soludo and well meaning people of the state to intervene and ensure that justice is served.
