UNIZIK Debunks Viral Video, Says No Staff Involved In Alleged Sex Scandal

The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has debunked a viral video circulating online which alleged that a lecturer of the institution was caught in inappropriate behavior with a student on campus.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Director of Information and Public Relations, *Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah, described the report as “false and misleading.”
Attah said that after due verification, the university established that the incident did not occur at UNIZIK and that the individual in the video is not a staff of the institution.
“For the records, no staff or student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University is connected in any way to the said incident,” the statement read.
The university management reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and discipline among staff and students, noting that it has zero tolerance for any form of student exploitation.
The statement further condemned the spread of misinformation on social media, urging journalists and online platforms to verify facts with appropriate authorities before publication.
“We therefore urge members of the public, media houses, and online platforms to desist from spreading unverified information and to take immediate steps to retract and correct the publication,” Attah stated.
He added that the university operates an open-door policy on information and communication.
