… Says the manufacturing hub is at the verge of extinction if affordable power is not supplied urgently

The Federal Lawmaker disclosed this while responding to questions from Journalists after attending 90th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP) in Abuja on Thursday, Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu stated that in his effort to ascertain the energy requirements for one of the Nigeria’s oldest and only surviving indigenous manufacturing hub, he invested on Energy Audit that proved that the cluster was under served, which he said is one of the major contributory factor to dwindling manufacturing capacity within the cluster. A development he insists that if unresolved, will continue to fuel growing employment crisis and sabotage effort toward energizing the economy.

“We have gotten to the point that we have to find a way of providing affordable energy for our economy so that we keep businesses thriving with its attended jobs.

It is my believe as an Engineer, that you have to first of all know what the problem is all about before proffering solutions.

According to him, this issue led us to conduct Energy Audit to ascertain the power requirements of our clusters, in order to be guided with the data generated therein while searching for solutions” he said.

The PDP NEC member, Azubogu stated that they are at the phase where they are genuinely looking for affordable or eco-friendly power supply to the area to quickly energize the economy for quickened competition that will crash the cost of Manufacturing within the cluster and create jobs for young people.

“We are at the stage where we are using the generated data from the Energy Audit we conducted to make strategic request and effort towards solving energy needs for our businesses. A system that face growing number of unemployed youths must designed means of stimulating her productive sector which will create jobs. Here, we are pushing towards solving this identified problem.” He said

Therefore, it is on record that the first ever detailed professional energy audit conducted in Anambra state was done through the effort of Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu in his interest to ascertain energy requirements for Nnewi Manufacturing clusters of Anambra State.
