Uruofolo Nri builds Legacy Hall after over one thousand years of existence.

It was a great celebration and fun fare at Ekeagu village square , in Uruofolo NRI in Anaocha local government area of Anambra state as people from all walks of life gathered for the opening of a town hall built after over over one thousand years since the highly populated ancient kingdom began to exist.

The magnificent edifice , named Legacy hall , was built through the goodwill and donations of illustrious sons and daughters of the village under its Chairman, Chief Arthur Mbuba, who assumed the village leadership four Years ago.

Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Uche Ekwunife was among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.

Uruofolo is one of the six villages that make up Nri ancient kingdom and also known for their cultural as well as human capital endowment.

However, since the beginning of mankind, the village has never had a public meeting arena except a pavilion which was erected four years ago, few months after the Arthur Mbuba-led administration came on board.

According to Chief Mbuba, village meetings in the past were conducted in homes of various leaders, who piloted the affairs of the people.

He narrated that upon assumption of office, launching for the construction of the legacy hall was organized under a building committee chairman , Chief Clems Ifezue who later handed over to doctor Ambrose Obi- Okoye, who donated twenty million naira to make the project a reality.

Arthur Mbuba noted that the thirty five million naira project which was completed within six months, will serve various needs of the people including village meetings, wedding reception, birthday ceremonies as well as religious activities.

The chairman of the occasion ,Chief Pascal Oraekie and a retired librarian , University of Nigeria Nsuka , Chief Emenike Ikegbune commended the village development union for making good its promise of giving the people a convenient meeting point.

The President General of Uruofolo development union, Mr Godwin Uzoegbo observed that it was amazing to erect such a project of international standard within six months saying that the facility is open to the entire public.

An Ambassador of peace and indigene of the area, Doctor Ramos Okoye – Asuzu, described the legacy project as a great symbol of unity and peace to the aborigines who had been marginalized in the past.

The chairman on ndi Nze , Chief Eugene Obiokoye , and the Vice president general Women wing, Mrs Uju Anowi believed that the town hall has enormous benefits for the entire Nri community.

In an interview, a former Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service , Lady Chinwe Nnedum, described the hall as part of the developmental process of the village even as she commended the executive of the union for exemplary leadership.

Radio Nigeria spoke with a Nollywood Super star , Mr Bob Manuel Udokwu, who came to felicitate with the Nri Ancient kingdom with a call on other towns to emulate Uruofolo village as such gesture attracts development and employment opportunities.

Speaking shortly after inaugurating the facility, the member representing Anambra Central senatorial Zone at the National Assembly, Mrs Uche Ekwunige Commended the people for their resolve to add to the development of the area and promised that the dilapidated road leading to the legacy hall will receive federal government attention in the next budget year.

The people of Uruofolo while rejoicing for the legacy hall however appealed to the Anambra state government to complete their joy by paying attention to other basic needs of the people in the area to give them a sense of belonging in this Democratic dispensation.

Various dance troops including the women group were on ground to add colour to the epoch making occasion.
