Lagos Residents Lament Incessant Traffic Robbery

Lagos residents have decried incessant robbery attacks on major routes in the state.

The residents disclosed that due to traffic gridlock , most routes have become unsafe especially for commuters and motorists who return late from work as robbers attack and dispose them of their belongings.

One of the residents who has been a victim , Mrs Charity Agwu revealed that the criminals usually move round with motorcycles, carrying machetes, pistols to rob people at night on the highway despite the ban on motorcycles on highways by the state government.

Another resident, Mr Samson Onipede added that the robbers do not only rob at night but even in daytime, saying that most due to unemployment in the country pretend to be beggars and hawkers whilst they carry out the evil act on innocent people.

He mentioned common areas where the act occur to include, Third mainland bridge, Costain Bridge, CMS, Mile 2, Oshodi Bridge and other areas with heavy traffic routes.
A victim who pleaded anonymity disclosed that she was abducted along Admiralty way by robbers and was later released after being dispossessed of her ATM cards and had her accounts emptied.

They urged government at all levels to tighten security in all parts of the country and create more employment opportunities for youths.
