Focus on your study, graduate with good grade – Prof. Meludu tells UNIZIK fresh undergraduates

The Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Nkiru Theresa Meludu has called on fresh undergraduate students of the Faculty to focus on their studies so as to graduate with good grades at the end of their academic stay in the institution.

Prof. Meludu representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, made the call while delivering the Vice-Chancellor’s remarks to the freshers on Friday, 28th October 2022 during the occasion of the 2021/22 Matriculation Ceremony held at the Faculty of Agriculture Building.

Prof. Meludu reminded students that the Matriculation Ceremony is the formal admittance for them into the ‘University of the Moment’ even as they have been inundated on the various facets of the University operations, it’s physical environment, rules, regulations and ethos.

The scholar highlighted some of the obligations in the course of their studentship as payment of fees, attendance to lectures, as well to shun negative acts such as Examination Misconduct, Certificate Forgery, cultism and other vices that can be tantamount to dismissal from the Ivory Tower.

The Professor of Food and Nutrition Security from Agricultural Economics and Extension Department congratulated them for gaining admission into UNIZIK and also prayed that they would be found worthy in character and learning to be conferred with a degree of the University at the end of their stay in the institution.

Highpoints of the occasion were the Declaration of loyalty by the Matriculants, taking of Oath against Secret Cults, presentation of matriculating students by the Heads of the seven Departments in alphabetical order and signing of the matriculants as well as Career Counseling and Distribution of Bible by Gideon International.

Present at the event were the former Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ernest Igwe; Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on Land Resources Management, Prof. Peter Nnabude; Faculty Administrative Officer, Mrs Chika Felicia Anoh represented by Mr. Chinemerem Nwuzor; Heads of the various Departments domiciled in the Faculty: Dr Charity Okeke – Agric. Econs & Extension, Dr. Ugwuowo – Animal Science, Dr. Ndukwe Okorie – Crop Science and Horticulture, Dr. Helen Agu – Food Science and Technology, Dr. Enwelum Egwunatum – Forest Resources Management, Dr. Chika Ikeogu – Fisheries and Aquaculture, Dr. Onunwa Akudo – Soil Science and Land Resources Management, Professors, other teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, guardians, matriculating students, friends and well-wishers.

The matriculation ceremony was Faculty based with all Faculties holding the ceremony in Awka Campus of the institution.
