UNICEF/UNAIDS: 200 children die daily from AIDS in 2024
A UNICEF-UNAIDS report shows 75,000 children died of AIDS-related causes in 2024—about 200 daily—while 120,000 children (0–14) contracted HIV. Only 55% of HIV-positive children received treatment, leaving 620,000 without therapy.
Sub-Saharan Africa bears the heaviest burden, accounting for 88% of child HIV cases and 84% of deaths. UNICEF warned that funding cuts threaten decades of progress and called for urgent action to expand treatment and prevention.
