A collaboration is on-going between the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to ensure the completion of the former’s Centre of Excellence.

The Centre for Skills Development and Training is located in Port Harcourt.

It is being constructed to increase the competence and capability of Nigerians to meet the low-to-middle level human resources needs of the oil and gas industry.

It is expected to be completed by 2023.

Dr Bello Gusau, Executive Secretary, PTDF made these known in Abuja on Monday when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“PTDF is partnering with the NCDMB to ensure that the centre is up and ready by 2023,” he assured.

He said the PTDF had put most of its vocational trainings on hold to complete the centre so as to domicile the training of low-level manpower.

He said the Fund had previously sponsored about 5,000 Nigerians on vocational or specialised training programmes in drilling engineering, geosciences software, engineering design, welding and fabrication.

Gusau also told NAN that the Fund had made tremendous impact in the oil and gas industry and would continue to do so because of the dynamic nature of the industry.

PTDF is a Federal Government agency with the mandate to develop indigenous human capacity in petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry. (NAN)
