Port Harcourt Refinery Confirms Reduced Operations For Upgrade
The Port Harcourt Refining Company has clarified that its operations have not been completely shut down but temporarily reduced to allow for facility improvements.
This was disclosed by Moyi Maidunama, Executive Director of Operations at the Nigerian Pipeline and Storage Company Limited, during a refinery tour led by Managing Director Ibrahim Onoja on Sunday.
Addressing journalists, Maidunama acknowledged a brief operational challenge but emphasized that scaling down was essential to address technical issues and boost capacity.
He explained, “Operations were not stopped entirely but scaled back to implement necessary upgrades. We are currently managing the process with the available trucks and a limited number of loading arms for product evacuation, which will be resolved soon.”
Maidunama assured that product distribution is ongoing, with multiple trucks loading refined products, and emphasized that operations would continue without interruptions.
Meanwhile, Worlu Joel, the Terminal Manager of the Port Harcourt Depot, confirmed that the facility has resumed distributing products such as Premium Motor Spirit, kerosene, and diesel. However, he expressed concern about the low turnout of tanker drivers.
