Transparency Group Set To Drag Osun L.G. Boss Before Anti-graft Agencies

…..Calls for 3 years forensic audit of the administration

A transparency group under the aegis of Centre for Transparency in Governance (CTG) had concluded plan to drag the outgoing Chairman of Egebedore Local Government area of Osun State,Mr. Olayiwola Abiola Lamby, before the nation’s anti-graft bodies over an alleged misappropriation of Council funds in the last three years of his administration.

It also stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) would soon receive a strong worded Petition from the group(CTG) to commence immediate investigation into the three years of Lamby-led Local Government administration for possible prosecution.

It equally called for forensic audit of three years administration of the Council area in the State under the headship of Lamby, alleging that the administration had committed many financial crimes since inception which needs to be investigated properly.

According to a signed statement by the group’s Directorate of Mobilization, Comrade Michael James and copies were made available to newsmen on Monday,advised Mr. Lamby to relief himself from office so as to give the opportunity to EFCC and ICPC to conduct credible investigation into his administration which was full of criminal mismanagement of the public funds in the local government area of the State.

The statement stressed that all the Council Managers (CMs),Directors of Finance (DF), Director of Works and other concern officials that served under his(Lamby) administration would be invited by the anti-graft bodies to explain their role in the administration of the local government for the last three years.

The statement further stressed that the transparency group, through its internal investigative mechanism had discovered a lot of financial atrocities perpetrated by the Lamby led administration which made the administration to show nothing as achievement in office.

It added that the only achievement of three(3) years administration of Lamby led Government was building of six blocks of lock-up shops in front of Local Government Secretariat in Awo.

” We are not out to malign anybody but to act according to the Section 15 subsection 5 of the amended 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, that “it is responsibility of every citizens to expose any act of corrupt practices in Nigeria”, the statement submitted.
