TANSIAN VARSITY HOLDS 7TH-12TH CONVOCATION LECTURE

Tansian University, Umunya has held her combined 7th -12th convocation lecture themed; Redeeming ourselves- A Call for True Citizenship, at the university convocation arena ,on Friday 17th May 2024, by a Frontline Governorship Aspirant in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship election, Mr Valentine Ozigbo at exactly 3:00pm.
The event was graced by dignitaries ,educationists and notable press men from various media houses ,among them were Sen. Dr. Victor Umeh; the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and doubles as the Chancellor of the University, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna; the renowned first Mass communication female professor , Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD; Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council and a host of others.
In an opening speech by the Vice Chancellor of the Univeristy, Professor Euguene Nwadialor , he appreciated everyone present for making out time to grace the event while urging them to pay keen attention to the lecture as the lecturer was a force to be reckoned with .
The convocation lecturer’s citation was read, amongst the various awards nominations and recognitions held by the politician both nationally and internationally,significant amongst them was that he was the CEO of the famous Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja
The lecturer spoke emphatically on how to be true citizens ,what faithful citizenship entails as well as made a contrast between nation’s leadership in the past generation and that of present one which he referred to as the Gen Z generation. It is a call to action on the present generation to take the bull by it’s horn irrespective of biases and prejudice therein.
‘To stand out amongst your peers upon graduation endeavour to practice scenario planning, prioritize your needs, and desist from quick money syndrome because there are legitimate means to making money, the internet is the right platform to leverage on. Be among people who make things happen as opposed to watching and waiting for things to happen, the business mogul added.
In a closing remark by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Charles Onochie ,who thanked everyone for their patience and active participation all through the lecture .
It was recalled that the event featured the breaking of kola nut, tree planting and commissioning of projects.
The Pro-Chancellor and
Chairman of the Tansian University Governing Council, Prof Theresa Obikezie led other members of the Governing Council to the convocation lecture.
